RE: Jim Harbaugh 'considering' Michigan
A little more on Harbaugh:

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh's family and friends have been encouraging him to take the University of Michigan head-coaching job, but he is torn because his heart is in the NFL, according to sources close to the situation.

Harbaugh first would like to see what head-coaching opportunities come available -- and he is likely to be a top choice for a handful of teams -- before getting back to Michigan with an answer, per sources.

A little more:

But as one Michigan source wondered Friday, "If he wants to stay in the NFL, who will pay him $8 million per year?" -- an indication that the Wolverines are prepared to go hard after Harbaugh.

The last part interesting: Harbaugh's wife also is said to be open and on board to him going back to Ann Arbor if that's what he wants, per sources.

The crazy is salaries are reaching record highs as interest is sliding on the downward side of the bell curve. Classic bubble

It's not a bubble, it's an attempt to slow the downward slide. It's worth it to Michigan to pay big for Harbaugh or some other "hero coach" because the slide in interest will accelerate if their team has several more years of Hoke-y performance, and because having a celebrity coach will increase interest immediately even if they have a few years of rebuilding ahead.

Yup...and if he does decide to come to Michigan with their facilities and especially with his NFL Experience he will be able to get into any home in the Country...remember the ultimate goal of the Elite Athlete is to make it to the NFL...not so much to play in a College Conference...when it comes to "Conference" the only ones that truly matter to the 5* is the American Football Conference and National Football Conference...07-coffee3

That's true. The best players today all want to be on a fast track to the NFL. You might not like this analogy as a Louisville fan, but the goal is to be able to do what Calipari does when he tells recruits how many of his players get chosen in the first round, because recruits care more about that than they do about winning a national championship. (That's kind of a frustrating thing for college fans, when you think that your favorite team's success depends on players who care a lot more about the next level than they do about winning at your school. But it is what it is.)

That is pretty much how we see Cal and Kentucky....but the thing is even with all that talent Louisville has as many Titles the past 4 years and UConn has more..but you're right it is what it is.
