Even if Memphis has a horrible season (which is a distinct possibility) the university is not going to cut him loose after one disastrous season, especially considering the length of his contract.

Even if it was to happen, the chances of a coach leaving a Big 10 basketball program on their own free will and taking a job in the American stand at about .000000001%.

I'm not wishing Ill will on Josh, I like him and still do. But his teams even when his was winning, they didn't looked like they ran plays, just out talent everyone. Also it's Minnesota, not Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Maryland, Illinois or something. Memphis has more tournament wins in the last 2 years than they have the last decade. Which program it's easier to recruit Memphis or Minnesota? Which school you have a, better chance of winning, Memphis or Minnesota?

My comments weren't intended as a slam on the Memphis basketball program. I know Memphis has been more successful in recent years than Minnesota and several other Big 10 programs but a move like that would be perceived as a move down in coaching circles simply because of conference affiliation. It's not going to happen.

I would go even further and state that we aren't going to be hiring anybody away from the ACC, PAC-12 or Big 12 either. Maybe the SEC, only because of how apathetic the casual SEC fan is towards basketball.

When Memphis does hire another coach, it will either be an experienced coach hoping to resurrect his career (like Cal) or an upcoming coach from a lesser conference.

Either way, I think that decision is at least a couple of seasons away at the earliest.
