UTSA could "host" at the SA Missions ballpark. I doubt they would; local support would be comparatively minimal vs. the more established baseball powers, and it's quite a trek out to CUSA's westernmost baseball school.

If the new downtown park is built for the Missions then it would be a good venue but hopefully we would be in a better position then. If UTEP played baseball the Chihuahua park is fabulous but would be a long haul for everyone but doable by air.

I have seen all of them save for WKU and they are horrible. The only two that are D1 quality are Rice and USM. All the other teams hate Rice and therefore vote against Rice not wanting to give the best team any further advantage. Thus, hello Hattiesburg!

I agree with all you say except that all the other teams hate Rice. To the contrary, I've found that most all the other teams and their fans are honored they're in the same conference as Rice; especially in baseball. And it is not a bad baseball conference at all.

That's just people rooting for the underdog against the ranked team, and people rooting for Rice to lose so their team has a better chance of winning the tourney.

Which makes sense. College sports is the only thing I have seen where people cheer on their conference mates. It is rather odd.

Agree, though I recall Wayne commenting during the WAC days that he was reluctant to propose any changes to conference rules/procedures because it would draw immediate opposition because the change would be perceived as advantageous to Rice baseball vs the rest of the conference.

And I don't mind Hattiesburg, been there twice - it's not that far from Biloxi or New Orleans. And if you like Waffle Houses, it's heaven.
