Short Window To Right The Ship
With The Grizzlies soaring and the Tigers tanking we only have a short time frame to get it back together or we'll be in the same situation as Houston and DePaul.

Both of those programs were at the top of college basketball a few years ago. They had a couple of mediocre years while the local pro team was surging. People stopped going to the games and stopped donating, choosing to spend their time and energy on the local pro franchise that was winning and playing exciting basketball.

We are on an eerily similar path......the team is in disarray, the Forum is becoming disappointingly empty, there is general apathy in the community, and the local pro franchise has captured the city's heart.

I hope the powers to be are watching the situation closely and not waiting until its too late for "course correction."

They've had 3 tourney appearances between them in the past 22 years. Our players weren't even alive the last time either team was "at the top of college basketball".

Q Richardson was pretty good too but if we're talking about actual NCAA Tourney relevance, that would be the Mark Aguire era I'd say.

Isn't he the only NBA player they every produced?

True dat. Edited my post. thought about it after I posted. bobby Simmons, Mark Aguire, and Rod Strickland had lengthy NBA careers.

That's a "fan" problem, not a ship problem.
Our ship is still under renovation and there are waves smashing at us, but we have a brave captain and a capable crew and this will mean smooth sailing. the tide will be high and our tidal wave of negativity will be a distant memory.

This is not a ship, it's a jet boat:

Well, that was hardly "a few" years ago, but I see your point.

Down with the Grizzlies!!!

Well at least we're sticking with btiger's original nautical metaphor.
