People stopped going to the games and stopped donating, choosing to spend their time and energy on the local pro franchise that was winning and playing exciting basketball.

We are on an eerily similar path......the team is in disarray, the Forum is becoming disappointingly empty, there is general apathy in the community, and the local pro franchise has captured the city's heart.

I hope the powers to be are watching the situation closely and not waiting until its too late for "course correction."
I wouldn't pay to go to a Griz game ever.

I may go if a free ticket is availed me and I can have good ear plugs installed.

Just not interested in PRO basketball, basically. Don't watch it on tv either.

Right there with ya, I never have liked the NBA!!

You don't have to be a fan of the NBA to enjoy attending a Grizzlies game. They are a blast and do a great job with entainment during timeouts, etc. Completely different atmosphere than a Tiger game. My heart belongs to the Tigers, but the entertainment value is much better at GRizz games.

what's more exciting than watching two people make a bed during a time out?

pure entertainment at its finest. worth the price of admission

What- making a bed??

b, for the first time ever, I actually agree with you....D@mn, I can't believe what I just posted.

I've said this numerous times. UH had an announced crowd of 2,080 last night and maybe 400 fans actually there (perhaps closer 300). DePaul's bb arena is just awful and the commute there is a chore and a half.

I might add the following programs to Btiger's list:

Maryland, St. John's (remember Lou Carneseca and Chris Mullin?), Seton Hall, Oklahoma State is really been hurt by the OKC thunder as well. Don't forget St. Louis University with Spoonhauer were putting 20k into the stands and now it's pretty much nothing. (although the NHL is not exactly the NBA in terms of competition).

This is really a test for the program. We CANNOT afford another season like this is going thus far. CJP has to generate SOME excitement soon or else our program is going to be a bit player.

There are two saving graces: Memphis HS BB and getting some of the locals to play here. I know that Memphis HSers can be a major headache, but it is one of the bigger reasons Tiger BB has sustained its interest for as long as it has, including the Tic Price years (ugh). Second, we actually have a decent conference (although not so much this year).

B's onto something here.

well maybe since Bobby Simmons and and Quentin Richardson

They beat Penny to open the Pyramid. They were one of the top teams in the league the first year or two of the Great Midwest or whatever it was called back then.

correct. Joey Meyer left and it went crashing down. Made it once I think with Dave Leitao who bounced to Virginia shortly thereafter.

Joey Meyer made DePaul crash. Ray Meyer was the man in terms of building that program and recruiting. Joey - the son - basically made the DePaul entire fall....throw in Michael Jordan and that's ballgame. DePaul will NEVER be the same and their arena is just terrible and out-of-the-way. DePaul is done. And they know it. The Chicago beat writers didn't even fly down to Memphis for the C-USA tournament and that tells you everything you need to know about DePaul BB.

Comparing a pro team to a college team is another definition of insanity. If a pro team has to fire a coach and eat a big buyout it's not a big deal. If a college team has to do the same they need to come up with $$$ for the buyout and likely for the new hire.

The Grizzlies were also set to let Joerger walk away until the owner came to his senses. They also went out in the first round of the playoffs last year with a new coach.

It seems like hopeum seems to feel like his sense is unfailing and the final judge of all things.

My senses fail me all the time and I am not the Final Judge of all things. I just like to point out inconsistencies in reasoning.

We can seem to agree to disagree. The lack of attendance for tiger basketball games seems to agree with me though it seems to seem.

You seemin? what I'm saying?

F' all this seeming around the bush.

The three R's are Relocation, Recruiting and Realignment. People who make definite conclusions about any one of those got no sense to begin with. They can't even be failed by them.

My sense is superior and seems to have spoken without any hesitation in this matter.

Never watched a pro bball game from start to finish. If they shut the whole NBA down tomorrow I wouldn't care. Raise the goal 3 feet, make the court 3 times as long and make nutshots legal when they hang on the rim. It might become interesting then

I will pull for the Tigers in any sport, even basketball. Our university has wasted tons of money thinking basketball matters in the grand scheme. Might as well be bowling for all the good it has done us. Not to mention the damage done by the low life cheater calipari to the schools reputation.

After the bowl games it's the off season

After growing up a Pistons fan and watching as much NBA basketball as I could, I went on about a 15 year hiatus, because it just didn't seem compelling anymore.

I have to say, though, that I watched the whole Grizzlies-Warriors game the other night, and was completely engrossed in it. Ive probably watched more regular season games on TV in the past two years than I watched from 1995-2010.
