Question Hattiesburg to host 2015 CUSA Baseball Tournament
The 2015 Conference USA Baseball Championship will be held at Pete Taylor Park on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss. The eight-team tournament will be held May 20-24 and marks the second-straight season the championship will be played at Southern Miss and the fifth time in league history.

Southern Miss was chosen as the host site following a bid process from the schools and a vote of the league's Athletics Directors.

"We are very pleased that the C-USA Baseball Championship will take place in Hattiesburg again this year," said C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky. "Southern Miss has done an outstanding job hosting this championship previously and our student-athletes, coaches and fans will enjoy a first-class event and quality competition."

Southern Miss hosted the inaugural Conference USA Baseball Championship in 1996 and welcomed the event again in 2005, 2009 and 2014. With hosting the tournament for the fifth time in the league's 20 years, Pete Taylor Park has been the championship site more than any other facility.

Soccer might be likely in the near future since you guys have the new facility. Other coaches may object though since it is artificial turf.

I know our coach wasn't too happy about playing on that surface in the rain.

Dont know why he would be upset. Its one of only a few FIFA approved surfaces in the country.

because soccer players hate field turf. It makes the ball move differently and when it is wet apparently it is almost unplayable.

I believe his exact words following the game were "not much soccer was played here today."

Fifa approving turf is simply another way for them to get money because they're a corrupt organization.

Anyway, I don't really want to derail the thread. I'm glad Hattiesburg got the baseball tournament. I imagine the locals there will support the tournament pretty well. Congrats Eagles!

The anticipated Biloxi location was scrapped because they wanted a two or three yr commitment with USM included which wasnt possible since we may be playing elsewhere after the upcoming season.

I've played on both. Soccer is a game of deft touch and finesse, and wet turf pretty much negates that. To me, it's part of the game. You can't air it out during a monsoon, you have to approach the game differently depending on the conditions. (see: ECU vs. Temple) The same goes for soccer. Suck it up and deal with it.

I'm all for playing the tournament at Marshall. Let's face it... we can't host every C-USA soccer tourney!

I look forward to UTSA eliminating the host from the tournament again, but we all know the tournament will end with another Rice championship
