So just take it like we have it now? What do we have left to lose?

Better to fight for inclusion and be thought to be too weak to deserve it than to separate ourselves and remove all doubt

Or beat those teams from the P5 in the playoff and create more doubt, al la AFL v MFL

Why not start a 4 or 8 team playoff with the best of the G5. Pitch it to the networks not named ESPN. He thinks there is a market for it and it would pay the G5 more than they are getting now and give them a lot more exposure. Would generate a lot of excitement.

What do you guys think of the idea? I kind of agree with the guy. We've got to start thinking outside of the box the P5 has put us in.

FYI he doesn't suggest a breakaway. He says regular season would allow teams to play P5 OOC. Teams not making the playoff could play in traditional bowls as well if they desire.

FUNK DAT.

I think all conference champions should make the playoffs with say the at larges to round out a 16 team field. I could agree to this.

Brando is suggesting an NIT setup because he knows the G5 are out as-is - so they might as well have SOMETHING to do after the season ends.

Obviously, You did not listen to the broadcast. I did and Brando did not recommend any G-5 Playoff. His stand in Host recommended it and it is nothing more than a glorified FCS Playoff for the Limbo Bunch we call the G-5 Champs. Bad Idea! Just puts us all on the BACK OF THE BUS where the elitist Cartel-5 Characters believe we belong!

So what is your solution? Keep dreaming for a P5 invite and take it up the a$$ until then (if it ever comes)?

We must apply some kind of pressure to be included on a greater level. We are getting totally screwed here and everybody knows it but doesn't do anything about it. Why?

We gotta do something even if it's wrong. I don't want to accept a lower level at all. I believe ECU and many in our conference can compete very well with a somewhat level playing field.

What are you going to do?
Hold your breath?
Give them the "silent treatment"?
Call them bad names?

Grow up, already. "You" and "I" are in a position to "demand" anything. It is what it is and we are shut-out of it. Deal with it.

Or don't. I don't care all that much and niether does anyone else for that matter.

That's the only realistic shot of G5 playoff inclusion. Seeing how the committee voted this year shows that there's nothing a G5 team could do to actually get in their top 4, and probably not even in a top 8. As for starting a G5 playoff hell no. That's the P5's dream for us to basically give up and start our own thing.

^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^

An AQ slot for the top G5 team has to be fought for an won during the next incarnation of the playoff. We need to be prepared to win the battle. Which means, we need to start fighting it NOW. The term "anti G5 bias" has to become a well documented fact by the time the next negotiation rolls around.
Amen.

Grow up? Hold your breath? I'm fully grown and I prefer to look for possible alternatives to your negative view. If you don't care as you say then feel free not to respond to the thread. We won't miss your bright comments, I can assure you.

"We are shut out of it", and "Deal with it" is a total loser view. We may not get anywhere but just "sit back and take it" is not the way to attack this thing moving forward.

I think the G5 can get an autobid to an 8 team playoff with a stipulation like "if the G5 team is ranked in the top 15."

Excellent Idea. Let's make the "ANTI-G5 BIAS" the rallying cry of all 60+ programs. There is strength and power in unity!

Sort of like the old "outside the BCS" crashing the party rules they had. Sounds reasonable to me.

How it should be and will never be. We Ned to be proactive and force
Their hand with an all-inclusive playoff. If they are going to expand they will expand the conferences. Eventually about half of the D1 teams will get securely locked out.

I say create an inclusive playoff outside of the CFB and get the best team you can from each conference and a couple at large teams and go.

IT is not a belief. It is how it is.
Every year, if we are lucky the scoreboard for invites wil be:
CFB: P5-4' G5-0
Access Bowls P5-9, G5-1
Yeah, we are already in the back of the bus (we just haven't accepted it yet), but we are already there. Most of us are still just in denial phase.

Every fan of the F'd 5should be pushing the same question- why isn't there a direct path to a championship in FBS but there is in every other sports league on the planet? everything else is just a distraction.

I did not read this thread, nor will I, but as to the question of a "G5" playoff, I say "not "no" but "hell no".

No.

But, there is no reason to create a separate G5 playoff, just have the G5 reps join the FCS playoffs instead of going to a 'meaning less' bowl. The FCS with their at-large spots would be given to the G5 champs who don't make the Access Bowl then.
