"I have been told that University email is now being monitored. The higher-up you are, the more likely your account is being screened.

People have started getting verbal warnings -- no discussion of football, Watts or anything to do with this fiasco while on UAB property if you value your job."

I'm surprised that took so long.

Watts is toast. He is getting desperate armed guards and now monitoring employees emails. Is this UAB or Saddam's Iraq?

This should help his chances in senate vote, lol

These kind of things will not go over well with academics and college kids. He's our best weapon right now.

This is Alabama. Nothing has changed in this state's politics since the editor of the Troy student newspaper was expelled for criticizing the governor. The governor rewarded the Troy president by supporting the establishment of Troy-Montgomery. The BOT and their puppet Watts don't have to worry about things like privacy considerations here.

Seems I me that they would have to issue a statement to everyone warning them about unauthorized emails before they could fire someone for an email.

I agree one hundred percent.

The austerity measures he cites will help while not acknowledging the consequences, the tendency to shy away from honesty and wrap himself in hollow promises that preach of greater days, and his conduct all speak of a CEO taking a business into a nosedive. Every single day this man sits in that office is another day UAB gets worse and farther away from it is supposed to be.

Maybe that's what he wants to do. If I wanted to kill the undergrad side, the first thing I'd do is run off the people who care.

When I make the same point concerning teachers in our schools, I get derision and criticism. The best and brightest either don't get into education in the first place or they leave it at the first opportunity to do something the public finds more respectable - or they leave the state entirely..
