Starting 2 Guard
We may have found our point guard, but there is still a glaring hole in the lineup that Pastner has not filled. Right now we are playing our games 4 against 5 with Avery Woodson out there. Just because he hustles like a champ doesn't make him good enough for starters minutes. Looking back at his back at his Junior College stats you will see he is not a good shooter even for the volume of shots he takes. Also he averaged a very meager amount of minutes.

And if he played any defense I am sure it would be just as bad. The starting 2-Guard is supposed to be a volume scorer or lock-down defender. This guy isn't either.
Time for some Iverson in that starting lineup.

Markel will be back soon. He's our best option at the 2. He's got a decent looking shot and is our best perimeter defender. Plus has decent size.

agree that he is not producing since the first half of the Indiana state game. Time is right to get Iverson in the mix. Burrell would be my 2 guard. Iverson at the 3.

Agreed.
In the meantime, I'd try Iverson there or slip Burrell there and have Iverson at the 3.

Hmmmmmmm. Pastner claims he shot 47% from 3 in JC.
Do you have figures to dispute that?
What were his JC stats?

I linked it in the post. It says 37% from 3 and a terrible 42% from 2.

From seeing Pookie playing early, and film on Kedren, I suggested that they would probably be a good combo on the court at the same time. It was Keith that said that Kedren had always had the ball in his hands.
With Kedren's added weight and lost quickness, I think he is possibly our best long term option at the two. I also think that as he gains confidence and experience, that Burrell MIGHT handle the ball well enough to be there as well.

RE: Starting 2 Guard
Woodson actually leads the team in minutes which to me is pretty odd since he is 6th in points, 7th in FG%, 6th in assists and 9th in steals.
Here's the last 5 games for Woodson:
NCC - 25 minutes (2nd), 0-5, 0 points
Oklahoma State - 31 minutes (2nd), 0-5, 0 points
Bradley - 34 minutes (1st), 3-8, 11 points
SFA - 32 minutes (2nd), 2-10, 5 points
Indiana State - 32 minutes (1st) , 4-5, 12 points
So why does a player who is not a great defender and not a great shooter get so many minutes? I suspect it's because he only has 10 turnovers for the season. Nothing gets a player yanked faster than a turnover.

True but that could be because he never tries to make a play. If he justs shoots or passes it back out to the point all the time that doesn't mean much. Dean Smith once said he didn't mind a turnover if the pass was to someone trying to make a layup. Turnovers to me has always been a misleading stat

It is true that Markel is probably the most opportunistic defender out of the bunch right now, but he just doesn't put pressure on a defense the way Iverson can on the offensive end. Not to mention on defense that you just can't teach 6'10" and guard-like* quickness.
*Disclaimer-This years guards, not last years haha

It just seems like a player can fly under the radar if they don't do anything including turning the ball over.

Agreed. I'd much rather have this group of players than the likes of Chris Crawford and Geron Johnson.

Markell is the answer once healthy. I'd give Burrell and Kedren the backup minutes.
