The last UTK football game I attended was in Memphis in 2000 when we lost to them on a last minute field goal 19-17. A feller from a world famous drinking establishment in Memphis who was a UTK fan sat with us and was singing that song. Several years later it somehow became one of "our" songs.

I am no fan of the "I'm so glad..." song but it is not originally UTK's.

I remember WSHS singing it back in the late 90's. I tried some 5 minute Googling to see the origins with not so much luck but did stumble on the message board post below that highlights that a number of schools use it in their line-up.

The song "fits" many schools because it is so generic... it is also terrible (in my opinion),again, because it is so generic. I do wish we would replace it with something better.

I'm so glad at other schools.

I am 99% sure that TSU is the originator of I'm So Glad.

I really liked them yelling through the megaphone to put in Jake McDowell. I think it actually prompted Pastner to finally put him in.

Its great to have someone show some enthusiasm in the student section and our Pep band is the best.
