No surprise. Much more convenient to watch multiple games at home now.

Toledo games are about the only sporting events I attend anymore. Anything else I'm casually interested in is so much more relaxing watching from home.

This is why it is important for the university to continue to make investments to enhance the fan experience at the Glass Bowl. It has to be better than the couch. This is not about adding seats, it is about making the overall experience the best it can be. Bang for the buck. And make it look good on TV

Play music on the PA that the crowd can relate to. The Glass Bowl & Savage Arena

The Band learn some new songs.......

No offense to Dave White Chevy but those students "butchering" their jingle has to go.......

On the other hand, the drum line performance between the 3rd & 4th quarters is pretty good....

The most interesting stat in the list is that UAB's attendance was reported to be up 107% in 2014.... so just goes to show that attendance isn't everything for viability of a program.

Also, EMU attendance up 271% .... umm ok. Maybe that's what convinced Mr. Smith to head up to Ypsi.

Essentially they went from just over 5K per game up to around 15K. I find that hard to believe when at one of the games (against us) they had maybe 3,000 there - and that is being very generous. Assuming they had 6 home games, that means they averaged almost 18K for every other game. Again, it says the schools provided the attendance numbers, so it is obvious that was done with a lot of liberty on what counted as game attendance. I always thought attendance meant you were there - you know, in attendance.

Attendance hasn't meant that in decades. The term is typically "paid attendance" that means tickets sold. So, if 10,000 people buy season tickets, but only 1000 show up on game day, that's still 10,000 in "paid attendance". It's also been known for rich doners to buy up a bunch of cheap seats at the last minute with no intention of using any of them ... that's most commonly done to avoid a TV blackout, but can be done in other circumstances too.

It was actually called Truckasaurus if we are talking about that thing that showed up at the NW corner of the Glass Bowl at halftime of the 1997 Purdue game----it had spent the afternoon at some event down at BG eating up cars or tractors or something I suppose.

That was Joe Tiller's first game as Purdue head coach and Drew Brees' first game as a Boilermaker (he took over the team in the 4th quarter and looked pretty good as I recall)---but Toledo still won by a couple of touchdowns. Purdue also had their "locomotive" engine parked near the SE corner of the stadium just outside the stone wall .The very next week Purdue went out and beat a ranked Notre Dame team and then went a several game winning streak that had them climbing in the top 25 and that helped UT break into the top 25 carry them along for the ride as they were also on winning streak. The Rockets started out 8-0 and were firmly planted in the top 25 until unfortunately they had some injuries and played a lot poorer toward the end of the season losing 3 out of the their final 4 games----at Ball State (as usual in those days), at UCF and to Marshall in the MACC at Marshall of course.

I looked up that game to make sure I had it right and the attendance was 27,700---not too shabby.
