Quote:We don't have to stop them, but we do need to score more points than they do. That's where I think we have a shot.
I think we do to a decent extent, if we need to score more points than they do. That's why I say I believe we're going to Rely on the turnover margin battle.
But my analysis helps my hopes, though...
All FBS games Won (Closest to Furthest MoV):
1 Poss Win against team avg (7-5) by 36-31; 4pts
Nevada (7-5) : 45-38 *OT*
Colo St (10-2) : 27-24
New Mexico (4-8): 35-31
2 Poss Win against team avg (6-6) by 35-24; 11pts
Navy (7-5) : 30-21
@GA-State (1-11) : 48-38
Boise St (11-2) : 28-14
3+ Poss Win against team avg (3-9) by 36-14; 22pts
Army (4-8) : 23-6
@UNLV (2-11) : 48-21
Good news is, they're not going to run away with it even if being the better team on the field (we'd need a total WTF collapse).
When They LOSE:
2 Poss Avg Loss against team avg (7-6) by 14-27; 13pts
@ Wyoming (4-8) : 13-17
@ Utah St (9-4) : 16-34
@ S-Diego St (7-5) : 14-30
They were held to only 2 TDs basically when they lost. That's their achilies. They can score a good amount of points. The closest to scoring low but winning was @Army. Army sucks, but they know how to play that kind of "Military Style Ball". AF scored only 23 (less than Kent State), but it's Army... so they won 23-6. It shows even a bad team like Army, who's a BAD 4-8 team, can keep AF under 24 pts, although they do have an advantage.
Overall, AF isn't IMPRESSIVE through-and-through -- but CAN certainly be impressive (Boise & ColoSt). It seems like they won't run away on ya -- but, no matter who you are, they can certainly beat ya.
When they lose, they're held to about the same points (14) no matter what the margin of loss.
When they win, they're held to about the same points (35-36 ish) no matter what the margin of victory.
Analysis: If we keep them under 20 pts, we win. No doubt. If we keep them under 24 pts, we Should be confident to win. After that, we're sliding right into the danger zone to Lose!
