Gotta Love Ted Cruz
WASHINGTON (AP) — Unhappy Republicans say Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has given President Barack Obama a present this holiday season — a gift certificate good for confirmation of 12 judicial appointments, not long after the voters had delivered the Democrats a lump of coal in midterm elections.

RE: Gotta Love Ted Cruz
Ted Cruz is a highly divisive figure within the Senate GOP caucus. A lot of Senate Republicans and their assistants, frankly, can't stand him. There are some good reasons for that and some not-so-good reasons for that, but the relevance to this story is that they will blame him for anything they possibly can that goes "wrong" from a GOP perspective.

What I'm hearing is that these confirmations would have occurred at some point during the special session -- regardless of anything Cruz has done or not done -- although possibly they wouldn't have occurred at precisely the same moment. Tempest in a teapot, IMHO.

Harry Reid is calling the Senate to session next weekend to finish the confirmations. Cruz would not be so "divisive" within the GOP is more than a handful of them actually did what they won their campaigns saying they'd do.

Did Ted Cruz Give Harry Reid One Last Victory? | The Weekly Standard

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/did-...tml?page=1 Wrote:That’s not how the Cruz and Lee see it. In an appearance on Fox News Monday, Lee pushed back on the idea that his push for the vote had given Reid a victory on these nominations. “That’s not true. Look, this is an outgoing Democratic Senate majority leader. It would have been political malpractice for him to adjourn for the year without getting these things through. I can guarantee you…not one person will be confirmed as a result of this that would have not otherwise been confirmed.

Cruz’s office agrees, telling THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Harry Reid had always intended to push forward on the Obama nominees. A Cruz spokeswoman, Catherine Frazier, points to a Friday evening tweet from Reid aide Adam Jentleson that the majority leader “intends to do [nominations] before we adjourn” for the year. The effort to get a vote on the immigration executive action, Frazier argues, did not make it easier for Reid to get more nominations through the Senate. It did, she added, “shine a light” on the executive order.
