UConn skimming the cream of UAB's commits
Bob Diaco and UConn picked up another of the more highly ranked UAB commits.

Kirk Livingstone, DE.

Had offers from Louisville, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Minnesota, among others.

Smart way to build a program. Lot of UConn fans think a few more will follow.

A positive comment on UConn?

I have to re-read that post. Something is up.

It looks like it checks out. Indiana also offered. But I didn't see UAB mentioned.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - UAB recorded its fifth commitment of the 2015 football signing class recently when Stranahan High defensive end Kirk Livingstone of Fort Lauderdale announced his intention to become a Blazer.

Taking players from UAB is like robbing a dead mans house.

It's more like somebody's A** of an older brother murdered him then left all his stuff on the sidewalk with a sign that said free.

[sarcasm] Yeah, dammit... Those kids should never play anywhere ever again! [/sarcasm]

Seriously, it's not the kids' fault that their FB team got disbanded. If UConn gives them a chance to play, so much the better.

What's going on with the players they had on scholarship? Are they immediately eligible to play or do they still have to deal with transfer rules.

They have to be eligible immediately, right? If this situation doesn't get a "hardship waiver" I'm not sure what does.

If they transfer now, the regular rules apply, because UAB is still playing football. They will be immediately eligible right AFTER the program shuts down. So at the end of the 2016 season, they won't have to sit out once they transfer.

Memphis picked up a commit from a former UAB commit. I also think they are going to try and flip Livingston from UConn.

What are you talking about???

UAB is done. They aren't playing next year, considering they must pay Tennessee $500K for the 2015 game they signed onto but won't be playing.

the uab guys are immediately eligible. the ncaa also issued a wavier last week allowing schools to recruit the uab guys during the dead recruiting period starting on 12/15. all who can will move immediately to be registered for spring semester and be eligible to go through spring drills.

all thats left to do in birmingham is for the mayflower moving trucks to show up in the middle of the night to haul off their equipment.

Oh. sorry. Now that RU is safely on the other side of the fence, I haven't kept up with conference realignment or shutdown stories. If UAB is officially shutdown, then all of there players are free to transfer and play immediately.
