Tennessean reported this morning that former ass't coaches, players, and other alums at MT are raising funds to build a Statue of the venerated former PLAYER, COACH, and AD to be placed in front of Kennon HALL of FAME. It's expected TO UNVEILED DURING 2015 SEASON. This is long overdue and much deserved. Donnelly was and is A WINNER, and has been estranged from the present administration since he was ousted after he brought MT into the FBS era. Probably the most popular figure in modern MT sports history, in my opinion.

Donnelly brought two Blue Raider teams into Huntington in 1992 and 1994 for the second round of each playoff, teams that had Coach Donnan and the Herd fans' attention. In 1994, MT and MU had the common opponent of Tenn. Tech (MU beat TT early by 14; MT beat TT by 21 late), and MU wasn't as explosive offensively, so there was a lot of concern about that playoff game.
Being no expert on MT fb, but having a little bit of familiarity, this seems like a well-deserved honor for the former coach.
I have posted this before, but the best thing to know about Boots is he is probably one of the best sound bites of all time. Some others here can probably give other examples, but one that sticks out to me was in 1991. FSU was ranked #1 in the nation, and Boots had to take his team down there to face the Noles. Boots said he if beat FSU he was going to quit coaching and go on David Letterman...
"You can be sure I`ll have the check before we kick the ball. We're going down there to survive. We'd probably have a better chance of walking away from a plane crash. If we get ahead, we're going to stop the game and take a picture."
"I'm afraid their horse (Renegade II) might kill himself running around when they score all the points they'll probably get on us. I read where Coach Bowden takes a nap before each game. I understand why with the players he has. I wonder if he could get his players to take a nap during the game Saturday."
After playing them close in the first half (20-10) and holding them below their season avg in points, Donnelly quipped after the game..."I think we stayed in the buggy when horse reared up."
Another one was the very next year he had to play at Nebraska and they were top 10 or so at that time too. After the game...
"We came out of the locker room a little shocked that we were only down 14-7. I don't think our players are mature enough to understand that they have a lot of tradition here."
Ok. I won't bore with more.

Weber is a fine sculptor. You will be very pleased with his work.
Here is a photo of my most recent sculpture. It was recently installed at TCU's College of Education. I couldn't figure out how to post the picture, so I just attached it.
