RE: In Defense of Wayne Yates
What's going to happen IF we have a great season next year? And before anyone says I don't see any signs, none of us knows. Would Coach be embraced or would nothing short of his dismissal suffice. As for Coach Yates, I remember him saying something that was VERY surprising, and today would probably cost him his job. We had just lost to Cincinnati and when he was talking to Big Jack, he said how hard it was when you have to go to war with a 6'8 white boy. He was talking about Dennis Isabell, and as for selective memory, AB got PT at Tn, he wasn't going to play over the 4 kings, and he didn't set the world on fire. And TB essentially was the same player at Kansas as he was here. I don't know what the answer is, my only hope is that things improve.

RE: In Defense of Wayne Yates
When I was a student Wayne Yates was a grad assistant under Iba. We were campus neighbors and I used to go over to the field house and watch practices. Yates did have a hand in recruiting both Finch and Robinson. When Bartow became coach he elevated Yates to an assistant job. As the story goes, Bartow had pretty much given up on Kenon and Yates made a last ditch trip to Texas and wound up recruiting him. Yates was a good guy and a good coach, he just could not take criticism. I think he eventually resigned under pressure. I didn't think he was actually fired.

Several of the top college coaches have started out under better circumstances and have not done as well as quick as Pastner. Maybe he pulls it all together next year?? I think he deserves the opportunity.

As far as not as many people at the games. The Griz are having a very good year and they are picking up a lot of fans. I'm sure some of the dropoff in attendance is due to that fact
They seem to be the type team that doesn't come around very often.

I enjoy watching the Griz. but I am a Tiger fan first.

FIFY

That is ridiculous. It's been 6 years, man. Let it go.

Okay, so the Tigers lost tonight by double digits again, to a bottom dweller. Who saw that coming?

By the end of the game the kids were clearly tuning their coach out, while he ran up and down the sidelines ranting and raving.

Second game in a row, the Tigers had a 2nd half shot clock violation in front of their own bench. This time after a time out when Josh supposedly had drawn up a play.

So, that's loss number two in a row, out of what could potentially be 10.03-puke

I caught an endless amount of grief at school for supporting Wayne Yates' Tiger squads from 1976-79. I know how you Pastner Kool Aid drinkers feel. It's time to let go while there's still something to salvage.
