If only he had went to USC......

Trust me, no other school wants him. Man we are stupid for giving him that contract.

USC says NOOOO

How did we get here? This team plays really bad basketball that's hard to watch. Fwiw my 8yr old daughter turned to me in the second half, and proclaimed that Memphis needs a new coach. Well damn even a 3rd grader recognizes that.

03-hissyfit The coach can't shoot the ball for them and he can't correct the bad passes for them. Some of it is the coaches fault and a lot of it is the player's fault.

So the coach can't get blamed for an unprepared team? Geez!!!

RE: FIRE JP NOW
The coach is responsible for getting the players to play as a team. There were a number of missed bunnies, poor passes that resulted in turnovers, players out of position on the defense, a WTF offense, and poor shot selection.
The players are not prepared, and it shows. Exactly what do they do in practices?
They need to get some huge football players from the defense to come in to practice against.
They looked OK in the beginning of the game, but the fouls called and Crawford's injury just
somehoe rattled them, and they lost it mentally.

Watching 30 for 30 on The Boz ( Brian Bosworth).

Before he played for Barry Switzer, Brian admitted he was actually a scared player who was unsure of himself. It was only after looking up to and trying to emulate his coach style wise did the confident player come forward. Loud mouth, cocky and assure of himself Switzer.... Boz drew from that and the rest was history.

Players take after their coach.....if you're Mr Rogers who don't even drink a soda abd use words like Gee Golly, your players will play just like that.. Fact

RE: FIRE JP NOW
Switzer didn't freak out and suspend or bench the Boz for trash talking during an interview....coach understood it was a persona Boz was portraying to psych himself up and to permiate the psyche of the opponent.

Now imagine Josh with a bull like the Boz....Before long he'd be all smiles and no bite (neutered) like the current C...

It's hard to make shots or do anything when you are continuously yanked out of the game after one mistake. Except if your name is Avery Woodson. I'm not a big fan of Godfrey, but I understand his frustration.

Sure the coach doesn't make shots for them.

Avery Woodson last night for example was 0-5 from the field, 0-4 from the three, had 1 rebound, 3 turnovers and 3 fouls and played 31 minutes....

Why the hell did he play 31 minutes?

The problem with Josh is he doesn't have leadership skills, he doesn't motivate, he doesn't know when, how or who to sub in or out, his teams are horribly undisciplined, his teams don't have an identity, the team clearly doesn't respect him and he doesn't run a scheme that fits his players.

Godfrey is better than what we have seen. He averaged 13 and 8 at the division 1 level. I watched him school Patrick Young last season. Problem is Josh doesn't know how to use him or any of his players for that matter.

He hid behind top 3 recruiting classes which he underachieved with anyway. Those players were good enough to win some games and make sure Josh looked decent enough. There is no one to hide behind this season.

What you're seeing is Josh's true coaching ability. Going into the season none of us knew what to expect. The 1 thing most of us agreed we'd find out, is if it was the players the last few seasons or if it was Josh Pastner.

As of right now, we are finding out it was Josh Pastner.

RE: FIRE JP NOW
Actually,

The coach is to blame for that as well. The guys are out there wingin' it with no halfcourt sets/plays to get them comfortable shots.

They are in scramble mode each play and that shows in the shots they finally stumble into...

They need set plays that get them fluid shots (even at the basket). Run some type of organized action (cuts, slips, shuffle plays) and they will start taking organized shots vs hotpotato shots. Fact
