RE: MAC BBall WK6 (12/14 - 12/20)
Man, EMU folks have the MSU game Wednesday circled on their calendars.
My guess is that MSU is more like Dayton then UofM.
We played a hard fought game with Dayton and was tied with about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd half before wilting at the end.
A good game vs. State confirms that EMU could be for real.
BTW, our best newcomer, frosh Tim Bond, hasn't played a minute all season with a broken finger. Not due back until the MAC part of the schedule. Folks were raving about him before the season started.
He is a 6' 6" PG and supposedly an excellent passer.

NDSU dominates another MAC team, still waiting for that invite!!
55-46 win with only 6 players! (2 out with flu, 1 knee, 1 shoulder)
Akron WAS #12 mid major team

And you are an idiot. Soon as NDSU pays for us to send our womens tennis team to Fargo, I'll humor the idea.

Five Bulls with 10+ points on the night..
My big worry for UB is that we don't have a deep bench right now... We lost against the Bonnies in part because two bench players were out leaving us with 7..

RE: MAC BBall WK6 (12/14 - 12/20)
I may sound like I'm beating a drum (I am) for EMU but folks at EMU and the MAC do not realize how big tonight's game is for EMU.
For EMU to beat BOTH UofM and MSU in less than 10 days would be an absolutely stunning event something which has NEVER happened before (same season). In 1997/98, EMU beat nationally ranked UofM in December but lost to MSU in the opening round of the NCAAs.
We've beaten Duke (March Madness, 1996), Syracuse (Carrier Classic, December 1997), UofM (Dec 1997), etc.
I'm not sure that beating Syracuse and UofM would be equal to MSU and UofM (only because it is impossible for anyone in MI not to know EMU beat both UofM and MSU. The win over 'Cuse didn't get the same local coverage).
And, of course, television. Neither the win vs. UofM (Dec 1997) or the Carrier Classic (Dec. 1997) was on television.
Obviously both the UofM and MSU games will be out there for all to see.

IF we win tonight, I'm writing the governor, offering money to pay for a "State of Michigan D-I Basketball Trophy" (okay, pay for part) for the team which has the most wins vs. other D-I basketball programs in MI (EMU would be at 3: Oakland, UofM, MSU and have four more to go - home and home vs. CMU and WMU).
It would encourage more games between programs which don't play each other every year.
I'd like to see EMU play UofM, MSU, Oakland and UDM every year.
Oakland and UDM could be home and home series.
UofM and MSU could be say 3:1 type series with at least one game vs. UofM or MSU each season.
So EMU would play Oakland, UDM and either UofM or MSU, each season.

CMU pretty much led wire-to-wire; wins at Northwestern 80-67.

Nice win for CMU.
EMU getting handled by MSU. Down 15 at the half.

Congrats on the win at Northwestern.. Nice start to the season for the Chippewas, but I have to ask this question... Why are you guys playing three non-D-I teams in non-conference?

EMU has played 3 non D1 teams and another on the way. WMU and NIU have played one. same with BSU.
My guess is you are allotted a certain maximum number of games to play. The non D1 teams CMU played are Alma (20 mins away), Concordia (1.5 hours away), and we have yet to play Central Pennsylvania. I have no idea why will play them. With the MI schools, I would simply think it's more of a favor for those schools to get better experience facing a D1 team and it's easy regarding traveling costs and what not. Just my guess. At the end of the day it wont matter because records in college basketball are meaningless, you need to look at RPI/BPI.
The only 2 teams worth mentioning on CMU schedules thus far are Bradley and Northwestern.

Maybe Central Penn is trying to transition, they played 5 D1 teams this year.

Just ot give a note non-Div 1 schools do not count towards your RPI so in that way they will not hurt you. However 3 does seem a bit much.

FWIW, WMU now has two on the schedule. Rochester College was a late addition (couldn't find another team willing to come to Kalamazoo).
Good win, Chips, good win for the MAC - hope we can follow your lead and make it a MAC sweep of Northwestern on Saturday.
