"Memphis must play with a higher level of intensity"
"On the defensive end"
Kara Lawson

Same old song and dance from Pastner's teams. If there was ever a year we needed to play stout defense, it's this one.

Understatement of the year. If we are going to struggle to break 50 on the score board, we have to be a lock down defensive team.

Good catch! The perfect response, as this is the third year in a row we have heard him reiterate that we need to "make shots to win games" as if the defensive end is not a factor! It's gr8 that he's starting to get called out on a national level now! Especially from the aspect that Kara said it! He's very stubborn, but maybe the fact that it came from a woman he will take heed.....call her up......and gain some insight on how to change his and the teams bad habits. .....it's actually a bit l8....and I think Kara would gain more favorable results than Josh

I thought so too. Can we hire her as a consult?

C'mon. This can't be the case. Coach stressed that defense and conditioning would be the hallmarks of this team. Been working on that since this summer and through the fall.

the only defense this coach has mastered is defending himself from the poor play of Kedren Johnson, Avery Woodson, & Pookie Powell. "Kedren was recruited to be an all SEC guard.... Avery shot 47% from 3 in JUCO... the 4 Kings have got to make 3's..."

Geez

Kedren was coached by a staff of SEC coaches....to perform as an All-SEC guard!

RE: "Memphis must play with a higher level of intensity"
Joe Jackson figured out the only way he was going to get better was on his own. These guys are all first year dealing with josh and that light will come on eventually. They don't want to come in and disrespect him off the bat but as this thing tanks badly hopefully we'll see some pride kick in with these guys.

That doesn't render favorable results vs equally talented or well-coached teams.....reasons that we only go so far then hit a brick wall. .....even the most talented/gifted need development & structure! Coaching

The snarky response would be that it only took Pastner 2 months to undo what two years of SEC coaching did for him.
