RE: Unbelievable
The fallout of years of "let the city build it" and being farther away (downtown) instead of an on-campus facility is showing what was easily predicted to be a continuous decline of student involvement. At least when I was in school, the drive to the fairgrounds was not too bad and parking infinitely more convenient than now.

Thomas Carpenter was roadkill as a university President. Even he, though, at least understood things well enough it to initially decline Pyramid involvement until he was strong armed. We had no choice in the matter, but still a long term mistake. Just like now.

I'll be pre-emptive and admit that I have zero interest in watching the NBA in any form. But I maintain that having the NBA in a city that is not wealthy to say the least is also not in the long term interests of the U of Memphis. Again, talking about the SCHOOL and not the city (that is another debate). However, fully aware that that decision has been made and we have to deal with it regardless of how we think it is good (not me) or bad.

However, I refuse to budge in the reality that there's still only x amount of dollars to go around. It is not in the best long term interests of a Mom & Pop shop to have Wal-Mart come in next door. Similar situation with the Tigers.

I have not been able to attend a home b'ball game in a few years. When I did, the concourse was vacant of any Tigers' stuff. NC State shares the PNC Bank (or whatever it is called) off campus with the Carolina Hurricanes. When I went to the NCAA's in March, they seemingly had equal billing in almost all areas. How do you have a home when you have photos exclusively of third parties (and not your own family) within your own living room?
