SHSU @ VU
SHSU just kicked FG to go up 27-24 with about 11 min left in 4th.

John Roberts not playing due to a concussion.

Just watched the last couple minutes on espnews...'nova just missed the tying kick at the end. Not a bad effort without your star QB

Missing your All-American QB was too much for Nova to overcome, but that last drive by Nova was a prime example about how to play to lose. Horrible play calls and execution, and even worse clock management. Talley's got to look back and blame himself.

RE: SHSU @ VU
Yep. Final SHSU 34, VU 31.

I said last week that VU would be 13-0 if they had a FG kicker. Lost:
-@ Cuse in 2 OT after missing 2 chip shot FG, including one to win it at the end of regulation.
-@ UR 10-9 after missing a PAT.
-to SHSU after missing PAT and FG at end of regulation to tie it (in addition to not having Robertson)

Missed whopping 9 PAT's on season and was horrible on FG.

Yeah, Robertson plays and the CAA again has 2 teams in the semis in a supposedly down year..

RE: SHSU @ VU
Absolutely horrible clock management by the VU coaches and no sense of urgency by the players.

Compared to the way we play fast, that last 2 minutes was difficult to watch.

Yes it was. Reminded me of Mickey ball.

RE: SHSU @ VU
According to a VU poster on CS, there was a big contingent of UD fans at the game cheering on KC Keeler. It must really suck for UD. They fire a 11 yr HC in Keeler who:
-took them to the playoffs 4 times, 3 times to the NC game, and won an NC.
-An 11-2 record in the playoffs.

Keeler went 12-10 in his last 2 seasons at UD (7-4 & 5-6). They replace Keeler with a HC who goes 13-11 in his 1st 2 seasons (7-5 & 6-6). Meanwhile, Keeler, after taking a yr off from coaching to work the booth, takes over an SHSU team that, while being in the playoffs the previous 3 seasons, only returned something like 7-8 starters. His hiring was announced on Jan 23, only 13 days before signing date so had little chance to put together a HS signing class. So he takes (according to the ESPN commentators of their Aug @ SHSU loss) 14 I-A transfers. Now he has SHSU in the semis and has run his playoff record to 14-2.

This would sort of be the equivalent of Withers going 7-5 this season and 6-5 next season, missing the playoffs both seasons, and having MM, after taking a year off in the broadcast booth, becoming the new HC somewhere else next season, and shockingly taking that team to at least the semis.

Wouldn't be shocking. I get pretty tired of the crapping on MM. MM would have had a Justin Thorpe team in the semis if they didn't have to go play NDSU in the Fargo Dome (and they gave them a game which no other team did that year).
