Yeah, I'm watching that one (kind of, ESPN Gamecast). Polony is doing a good job. As good a runner (or better), as Robertson.
Nova leading 31-27, midway through the fourth.

It's a really good game. Nova now up 31-27 but Sam Houston is driving. That's pretty impressive, actually. Villanova's backup QB is not bad but he's not Robertson. Damn it I wish we were still in the mix.

Another point on the Coastal/NDSU game, Coastal's coach is damned good! He is an ex-Wall Street mogul and rolled the dice a few times in that game. He won every time that I recall.

Wow! Looks like Nova is going to go down to Sam Houston. Poor game management late. Polony should have run more. He was tearing Sam apart.
Indeed, Nova loses to Sam Houston, 34-31.

Anyone else watching NDSU vs Coastal?
If shsu doesn't upset ndsu next week, I think they'll four-peat. Unh won't beat them and ewu might, but I'm not sure. Illinois state, I don't think so.

Illinois State looks superior to EWU. I'm still putting my hope in UNH. They can do it, but it won't be easy.

Illiniois State running away, leading EWU 38-20, four minutes left in the third quarter.
I'm working on my color commentary for when I am the color guy with Shikman at Chattanooga.... I mean the Rose Bowl.... I mean the Super Bowl.... I mean Frisco.

I was thinking the same thing. I can't help it. I respect the hell out of what they've been able to do, but I've had enough of NDSU.
See, I want them both to lose and I'm also tired of ndsu, but I would rather have seen ndsu win.
The last we need is more big south talk about how they're anything more than a one bid league.
It's about picking the lesser of the two evils. Coastal shouldn't have even been in the playoff field.
I watched Coastal vs Richmond last week in Myrtle Beach. For you to say they shouldn't have made the playoff field is unbelievable. They dismantled Richmond and should have beaten NDSU today. People on here need a dose of reality sometimes.

The big south is a one bid league typically. They finished as the second place team in a conference with six teams and only really two decent quality teams. Charleston southern is so-so.
Yeah coastal was 12-0 going into Liberty, but they were overrated with that schedule compromised of no one special. The one quality team that they played all season beat them.
It's my opinion, but I know the committee couldn't turn down a 12 win team. Apparently JMU should follow the same strategy and schedule 12 st. Francis teams and work our way up to #1 in the country.

This year, two Big South teams beat two CA teams, one home game, one away in the playoffs. To say the BSC is not deserving is speaking with anger/passion rather than with logic. Logic will most always win. LA and Coastal are strong, legit, top 10/15 programs this year. No flukes

Agree with BSKB on anyone saying Coastal shouldn't have been in the playoffs in unbelievable. Now one can argue they shouldn't have been a seed, but after seeing Coastal dismantle UR and take NDSU to the wire, saying that Coastal shouldn't have been in a 24 team playoff field at all is pretty idiotic..

Eh. I could go either way. To use playoff examples is revisionist history. When the field was announced, two teams from the Big South was a stretch. Obviously, now that they won some games we know that it was a good call, but you can forgive some of us for doubting that this would be the year that the Big South would actually have two teams worth of being in the playoffs when usually they have one that gets demolished in the playoffs. I think given their records, both Liberty and Coastal should have been in (but neither should have been a seed). They've obviously proven themselves this year in the playoffs, which increases their chances of getting a good look in the future. History and their records definitely didn't make two teams from the Big South a guarantee.

Anyone else watching NDSU vs Coastal?
Thank you 2008 for saying what I was thinking, but didn't care enough to get in another argument over.
You can't say their great playoff performance justifies them being in after the fact. It's the same as vcu in the 2011 bb tournament.... To a much lesser extent.
My whole complaint that is being disregarded is that the big south shouldn't be a two bid league. They were a 2nd place team. That is fact.
12 wins in Fcs will get anyone in, I get that. They sure didn't need to get a seed and that was the even sadder fact. Liberty had more of a case for a seed.

Exactly! Coastal wasn't bad, but their strength of schedule was horrible. Had they played better teams they would have been a much better team against NDSU.
Throw Coastal an average CAA schedule and they would still probably make the playoffs at 9-3 or 8-4, but no way would they be undefeated, and they would be a much better, much more prepared team for the post-season.
Beamer used to do that crap, front load Tech's schedule with cupcakes, then start screaming after going 3-0 that Tech should be ranked #1. Then a Big East dog like Rutgers would smack some sense into them.

I wish Coastal could get a CAA invite. That, or an invitation from the SoCon.
I do agree that being in the Big South is somewhat hurting our reputation in football. However, I do believe we are a legitimate Top 5-10 FCS program right now (and should be even better next year).

Coastal would be a great add for the CAA to replace us when we leave.
they should be the top choice IMO.

When they have been mentioned in the past, all the academics first posters on here go off. I get tired of the "peer" institution arguments. I want to be in a conference with athletic programs that are peer oriented. O would trade Coastal for Elon yesterday.

Watching this year, yes I agree, but Elon has had a couple of good (I didn't say great) FB teams as well. I agree with others, Coastal would be a nice addition to the CAA and frankly, I see little difference between them and ODU from an academic perspective. I can easily see the BS being split up between the Southern and the CAA.
