BOT wouldn't have the power to deny UAB Condoleezza Rice if a grassroots movement started in support of Rice. She is the leader UAB not only needs but deserves. She's apparently a frontrunner for the job at Texas, so UAB would have to work fast.

She could be bought like anyone else I'm sure. They may not have the power to deny her but they certainly have the money to get her to play ball if they choose.

Condi would actually care about UAB. So I think we can forget the BoT allowing that to happen.

What about Freeman Hrabowski?

Don't know if it would affect her judgment, but CR is an avid Crimson Tide fan.

This. We all (probably) have the same ends in mind - get rid of Watts, bring back our sports, and have independence from the BoT. There is no shame in having different opinions as to how those means should be achieved or speculating on the potential effects of our efforts. Might be asking too much for an Internet forum but it would help a lot to avoid name calling and accusations just because the suggestion isn't one with which you agree.

Unless it's MBouchSienna...that poor guy is just hard to comprehend.

One man's humble opinion, of course.

Dr Rice would be an excellent choice and a strong advocate for UAB if brought in as President. For those reasons, there is no way the BOT would allow it to happen.

Your credibility is in question with the Watts not being at graduation comment and the hard to believe statement that the faculty is voting next week on the no confidence resolution. Not flaming...just stating facts.

Totally understandable. Someone I trust gave me that info and I passed it along. The vote news caught me off guard, too, but I decided to post the info anyway. Before it is suggested, there is no way the source of this info is from a plant, by the way. The thought of that makes me laugh out loud. If anything, this should give some insight into what faculty is talking about.

Lots of rumors flying. I know that I have reported things that proved innaccurate.

i think (at least for me) it has to do with the number of threads he starts to say nothing very accurate. i haven't counted, but on the first page, i bet he's started more threads than anybody else

All I want is a person of strong integrity and a commitment to making the school better in every regard.

I don't know when working with all facets of the school in some degree, and conducting yourself in the manner befitting a president of a university became something we had to demand instead of a minimum requirement. I'm tired of the walking embarrassment we have running our school, and I just want him gone as soon as possible.

We already have our next university president on staff.

Dr. Frank Messina would be my top candidate.
