I agree. His offensive pedigree is pretty impressive. His offense is multiple, featuring pro sets and spread sets as well. He also does a nice job of mixing in just enough option scheme to make a defense spend time prepping for it.

Plus, you could get him. He was pretty mad at how things went down at Maryland. I would think he would jump at the chance.

Yep.

And more importantly he wouldn't be casting wandering eyes for his next job before his supersized office chair even got warm.

So are we saying Narduzzi (HC) + Friedgen (OC)? That would be impressive!

No, I'm saying Friedgen as HC as he is the proven commodity as a HC and runs an offensive system that can easily be implemented with Pitt's current personnel.

Narduzzi is a great DC but a complete unknown as a HC. At this point Pitt can't afford taking the chance that they would be doing another coaching search in two or three years.

Sounds great, but I doubt Narduzzi makes a lateral move from Mich St DC to Pitt. Who would they get as DC?

It is a whole lot easier to find a solid DC than it is to find a solid HC.

I sure as heII wouldn't want friedgen if I were Pitt. Dude is 67 and after going 31-8 his first 3 sessions with umd he was a .500 coach. Meh.

RE: Fire Pederson
He went 75-50 at Maryland. Recruiting to Byrd Stadium and their other sub-par facilities without any hope for improvements because of the budget situation there in College Park. The absolute only advantage he had was the owner of Under Armour being not only an alum but a former football player for the Terps.

Friedgen has established recruiting ties in the region, has a track record as a head coach, and is genuinely one of the best offensive minds in the business. Being 67 he isn't looking to take the next step up and his alma mater burned the bridge and salted the earth with him so he would provide the stability that Pitt desperately needs.
