Here's how Scout.com works
Tyrone Miller, a DB out of Saline has committed to CMU.

Miller is unranked on Rivals, but claims to have 5 MAC offers including WMU.

Allen Truei the recruiting analyst for Scout claims that Miller was thiiiiiiis close to having offers from UM and MSU, and that he's a HUGE get.

Scout analysts fish for subscribers. On one day in August Truei took nine 2 star and no star CMU recruits and changed them to 3 Star recruits. Strangely, they all remain 2 star recruits on Rivals and 24/7 Sports. Rest assured Miller will get 3 stars on Scout.

I've heard of one legit D1 recruit on Saline (and even he's questionable because of concussion issues that kept him off the field) while Truei talks as if half the Saline roster is D1 ready.

So while we have a great rating on Scout, so does every school who Allen Truei publishes for.

No that was an actual CMU alum (BW) who was deemed by Scout as a regional analyst. 03-drunk

I agree with you about scout and CMU's recruiting class. However, I know for a fact that WMU was tremendously high on Tyrone Miller. Probably the highest on their board at the point of his Chip commitment.

Again, agree with the overall sentiment about Scout and Trieu though.

They have 6 DBs verbaled already, can't imagine they wanted more.

Does that include the 8 WR/ATH that can play either side of the ball as well?

Includes the "athletes" who as you said can be looked at at multiple positions.

RE: Here's how Scout.com works
It's all subjective. Much like a 3 star becoming a 4 star as soon as Notre Dame or UofM shows interest. Or a 4 star dropping to 3 star when the sign with a MAC school rather than a Big 10 school.

It's all about how well they get coached and developed once they get to college.

RE: Here's how Scout.com works
The offers he has are nice...

BUT...

The big red flag here to me is that in both of his Rivals and 247sports profiles, Miller has clearly been to camps -- you can tell by his photo/head shot -- and he hasn't even been rated by either site.

That tells me that he hasn't warranted much evaluation, if any. And in most cases if you go to a camp put on by one of these sites, you're getting evaluated.

So he's either a diamond in the rough or a complete dud.

You maybe can't imagine it, but I am not trying to be a jerk. I know this for a fact. Obbie Jackson wouldn't have been a Bronco if Tyrone Miller didn't commit to CMU. Miller was the priority. Notice Obbie Jacksons flip came after Miller's verbal to CMU.

I also know that Miller was very well liked by the Michigan coaching staff, and if Hoke stuck, I wouldn't have been surprised to see UM offer late. He was evaluated by several different schools at the UM camps as probably the best cover corner there
