This reminds of all the years that World Series home field was decided based solely on the odd-ness or even-ness of the year, and no one said anything. Then it was changed to base it on the All-Star Game, which is no less arbitrary and at least has the virtue of being mildly interesting -- and people screamed bloody murder about how it was now "unfair" to the team with the best record.

Yes, an 8- or 16-team playoff would be better. But four is a darn good start.

Agreed.

Imagine picking between Alabama, Oregon, or FSU for the championship game.

Ouch.

Agreed.

If MLB wants it to be based on leagues, then let the league with the best interleague record get to host. Or make it simple and go by best record.

Neither TCU nor Baylor would have had a chance to play for the BCS NC last year. So while it sucks for them and they may scream bloody murder, they had a chance this year and that's a step forward.

Also, half of the G5 technically had a chance to qualify this year. Depending on how SoS broke out, it could be debatable. But I am certain a team with the schedule of a La Tech, or Rice, or ECU, with an unbeaten record and much more comfortable margins of victory than a FSU, would be in that conversation for the final four.

Not with the CUSA SoS; not a chance...even if that undefeated season included upsets against a couple Top 25 teams.

According to Massey, Boise State - at #65 - had the highest G5 SOS. Yikes.
