We are just the University that DOMINATED the winning of THE BUBAS CUP for over a DECADE. WE ONLY WON THE coveted all-sports trophy more than any SUNBELT TEAM in History. THAT'S ALL! Any other questions?

I think this where stAte fans normally chime in with 45-0.

Seriously, I don't think anyone really cares about the Bubas Cup. We have a hell of a women's bowling team but you don't see me on here bragging.07-coffee3

Somehow they got convinced that the Liberty Bowl would take them over Arkansas State because CUSA would use all the pull they had with the bowl to do it. Problem is CUSA had no pull with that game. La Tech tries to get the I bowl to wait, fails to recognize that they were 3rd in the Liberty pecking order, and gets left at the altar.

Whenever my thoughts turn to that embarrassing home loss of ours to LaTech this year, I just recall their AD squandering a bowl slot for their nationally-ranked team, them being the laughing stock of football fans and media across the nation and I feel all better.

In fact, I've got nothing to do this fine evening so I think I'll research some of the archives on their fan site and re-live the certain meltdown that followed the bowl bid cluster fark of the ages.

The Cup that honors the vastly SUPERIOR OVERALL ATHLETIC PROGRAM in the conference every year! MTSU was virtually always the BEST and you were the rest!

I'm sure that will comfort you as you watch other teams play in bowls on TV during the next month . . .

CUSA was a lot more like the AAC, and a lot less like the Sun Belt not too long ago. So the emphatic EVER doesn't mean that much to me.

It's still great to be in a conference that places teams in bowls based on order of finish... And the funny thing is, we were still going to a bowl this year had Oklahoma State not upset Oklahoma or Marshall not upset WKU.

Stay classy Arkansas State.

You cant prove that at all. 1. There is no proof that Marshall would have made access if undefeated. Remember Boise was ahead of them late in the game. 2. Even if Oklahoma wins, whether or not MTSU gets placed depends on where the P5's want to go, and which bowl the MWC chooses to vacate.

It was not as if there was some conditional Bowl invite to MTSU waiting on the result of the OU/OSU game.
No, I can't prove that Marshall would have made the access bowl, but we would have still been placed regardless.

If you guys prefer bowl placement solely based on ticket sales, that's your choice... I think it's completely fair the way things shook out in C-USA this year. To each their own, but schools like Texas State are always going to have a tougher time to go bowling unless they win the conference outright if UL or USA are eligible.

The bowls do prefer placement based on ticket sales and TV ratings. It is a business and they want to make money. There is a reason ULL has been going to the New Orleans Bowl over the past years....their games have been the highest attended in the history of that bowl game.

As someone posted earlier, WKU and MTSU really have no complaints on the years they were left out. In each of those years, they had announced that they were leaving the SBC. Sorry, I don't think the conference owes a team that has said "I am out of here suckers" any effort to get them in a bowl game, especially when they have teams that are staying and are eligible. MTSU tied for second with ULL and ULM. They lost to ULM and didn't play ULL. They weren't going to get the NO Bowl over ULL (less than 2 hours away) and weren't going to get the Independence Bowl over ULM (90 miles away and the feel good story of the year with win over Ark and close games against Auburn and Baylor). The only shot was Detroit and, as someone stated, you got out hustled by WKU. Amazing that you expected loyalty from a conference you showed no loyalty to when CUSA came calling.
