Spanky is still the coach and will almost certainly not be extend past this season.

Oops - I was thinking last year was his last....

Sparky announced back in the fall that this coming year (2015) would be his last. He was also given a plaque during a "thank you" ceremony at halftime at one of the football games this fall.

I don't think it was Spanky who made the announcement about this being his last year...like Tom Martin, Spanky's "retirement" was announced for him.

Well, yes, it's obvious he was "forced" to do so, but Spanky sent out an email to all baseball alumni a few days before it became public, so technically he did "announce" it. But your point is true.

Don't know if it's official, but the players (at least the one that I know) have been told that none of the current staff will be back.

Thought that much was obvious when Spanky was given the farewell tour. No new coach is going to want to work with the previous guys...he'll want to bring in his own choices.

Coaches get retained all the time, even when new head coaches come in. This sounded to me like everyone is leaving, even if offered a chance to stay. Also sounded like no one on the current staff will be considered for the head job (no clue if that was ever a possibility, or not).

If history holds, JMU Baseball will win the CAA title this year.

JMU baseball needs a fresh start much like football did. It should be a complete new staff and any coach that we would really want would not want to inherit a staff not of his choosing.

Agree completely. Was just pointing out that it's not unheard of for a new staff to include some holdovers.
