I thought it was fair (except I think Kiel should be over Lynch). UC's problem was their biggest strength was wide receiver, but UC spread it around so much among 6 or 7 guys that nobody really stood out.

Nick Temple deserved better than Honorable Mention.

I think either Shaq, Chris Moore or MeKale McKay should have gotten something. As Mark points out due to depth passes were spread around to multiple players, but you can't convince me there are that many WR's in the AAC better than those three. Shaq moved the chains and Chris and MeKale were homerun threats everytime they touched the ball.

RE: AAC Awards Are Out
I think Temple should've at least made second team IMO. McKay being left totally off the list doesn't make much sense either. Maybe I just don't know enough about the other players in the conference, though (there were only a handful of guys that we played against that really stood out to be honest). I don't think any of our guys deserved POY above the others.

Gantz only missed 3 FG's all year and was named to the Groza award semi's. Memphis' kicker missed 10 FG's and was named special teams player of the year. Granted he had more attempts, but don't you have to make them?

Ya, I thought Gantz was the most surprising. Temple should have probably been 2nd team, but I can't say I really know much about the guys who beat him out for 2nd team.

I don't blame them for Kiel. He's good, but he also missed a ton of time including during several of our conference wins.

Jake, McKay dropped way too many balls to be considered.

He was great at times and very inconsistent at times. I still thought he was one of the better WRs in this league. But maybe that's because of my lack of knowledge about the other teams. UCF had some good ones as did ECU. But outside of that no one really impressed me.

McKay also takes some running plays off when he should be blocking. I like him a lot, but he could get a lot better.

McKay was very inconsistent. On the other hand, Shaq Washington was very consistent. He was instrumental in third-down possession receptions and always could be counted on to consistently make effort plays. I also think Zack Edwards was overlooked. There cannot be any defensive back in this league or maybe even nationally who had more tackles than him. He has been a terrifically consistent player for two years now and I expect him to be even better next year.

Agree on Edwards. He "quietly" put together a great season with 110 tackles. Probably what hurt his recognition some was the crappy play of the rest of the secondary and the defense in general especially during the earlier part of the season.

Part of me agrees with Kiel as Honorable Mention due to our strong wide receiver corps (nice to have that many complimentary weapons), his decision making at times revealed his first year playing at the QB position and the fact he missed some time. On the other hand, he made the most of his time when he was in there throwing for 30 TDs (11 INT) and over 3,000 yards. There is a good argument for Kiel to be second team since he surpasses Lynch in most stats (Lynch threw 18 TDs /6 INT) with the exception of completion percentage. Kiel did finish first in the conference in pass efficiency.

Edwards has been great. How he goes without mention is baffling. Also agree on Shaq. While consistently good he had a few outstanding plays (ie. the TD at Tulane) that should have landed him on the list.

PLAYER 0-19 20-30 30-39 40-49 50+ PATM PATA POINTS
ELLIOT 0-0 9-9 5-6 3-8 2-6 19 29 107
GANTZ 0-0 4-4 6-7 5-7 0-0 15 18 95

Under 40 yards Gantz was 10-11 and Elliot 14-15 Beyond 39 yard Gantz was 5-7 Elliot 5-14

Gantz got screwed.
