Best EMU victory during your time as a fan
I was a freshman in 2000, so this is it for me. the Ford Field game against CMU was great, but this is my high water mark. how about you all?

also in the running for me is the win against Cal in Ramsey's first game. i ended that night fishing my phone out of the BW3 toilet (old downtown location). that was a fun win.

Tonight was my best victory. I was a freshman in 2010, so the only thing I have to compare to is the 2012 Purdue win. My phone was dead and I'm just now getting home, so I'm not sure if you guys know on here, but there were couches burning in Ypsi tonight. I hope that makes you all as proud as it makes me.

I'm waiting for some poster to re-quote Jane Fonda after hubby Ted Turner's Braves won the World Series:

Penn State in the NCAA to reach the Sweet 16, Mississippi State first round--by 20, Duke in '96 first round, MSU at Bowen, ranked Wisconsin with Michael Finley at Bowen, a ranked Michigan team at Crisler in '97.

Great win by THIS EMU team, I'm ecstatic but...U-M is rebuilding...probably could have used Stauskus last night but we'll take it.

Are they rebuilding? No one was saying that when they beat Syracuse, or when they almost beat a top 10 Villanova team on a neutral court.

They have less player turnover from last year than we do. I could flip what you said and say we could've used DaShonte Riley yesterday, or against Dayton. That's college basketball...guys graduate and move on. Michigan isn't as good as they were last year, or the year before, but that doesn't take away from this win. They are still a better team than anyone we will see in the MAC. We played a phenomenal defensive game against a GREAT shooting team. Don't discredit that.

Probably for me personally it was the MAC title game in 1998, during my freshman year at EMU. My roommates and I sat right under the basket at the SeaGate Center in Toledo and stormed the court after the victory.

I've only been a fan since 2009, when I started going to school here, so this game definitely takes the cake. Beating Purdue was cool, because of how bad we had been the previous couple years, but they were a low-end Big Ten team. This Michigan team was ranked literally last week, and is clearly struggling right now, but I still fully expect them to make the dance as an at-large. I can't imagine we've beat an at-large team since the late 90's.

EMU alum and EMU football play by play guy, Matt Sheppard--U-M's basketball announcer is not giving much love to EMU this morning on his WDFN show. "We (U-M) should never lose to NJIT and EMU in the same week, year, or decade!" I love how Shep acts like he has no affiliation with EMU on his morning show. Not cool. I foolishly thought I could hear some EMU basketball talk on a Detroit sports station this morning.

It was awesome to witness the Purdue win in person and rush the court but the victory takes the cake.

So glad I got tickets for the MSU game.

My favorite all-time EMU hoops win is actually the Wisconsin game.

As Bob indicated, Wisconsin was top 10, had Michael Finley, and Rashard Griffith (who didn't play). They killed us the year before in Madison.

The first half was a total EMU rout and folks were going crazy in Bowen.

Hard to compare a game on television to this live experience we'll never see again.

Shepard went to CMU. But it's still pretty lame if he referred to Michigan as "we" when talking about this game. Not surprising though.

This game is easily the best one I have been able to witness in person.
The only one that comes close is when we beat CMU in front of 5,000 people at the Convo in 2003.

Dear Friends,
I would agree with the Wisconsin win, but would have to go back to Eastern's first win over Michigan which was when we had two big men, who were referred to as Eastern's "Twin Towers". I should have taken the time to look up their names, so I apologize for that. That win made us feel the way we do today.

When were the EMU wins:

1). 2014 (yesterday).

2). 1997 (December - rescheduled game). Both teams were nationally ranked I believe. (interested it was rescheduled after a UofM WRESTLER died after a workout. Now we do not postpone games even in the case of a D. Reed).

3). ??????????????

Dear steve,
I looked up what I should have in the earlier post. The first win was the first game of the 1981-82 season. The "Twin Towers" were Jack Brusewitz and Jeff Zatkoff. The score was 87-85.

Jack Brusewitz still attends most games. i always see him around the convo. i don't know if he has any official role with the program, or if he's just an ardent supporter. probably a mix.

As I read these posts, I realize how old I am getting (hah!).

My favorite EMU win was the 1987 Cal Bowl victory over San Jose State. Nobody expected EMU to be in the bowl game, and fewer thought EMU had a chance to win it.
My best EMU hoops win was the NCAA Tournament win over Duke.

Let's hope I can update the memory with some more recent stuff pretty soon.

This and the Purdue win our the biggest two wins I was able to witness as an EMU fan. Glad our basketball is still giving us something to cheer about :)
