Honestly, with 15 sec left and Akron needing a touchdown... just unreal...

Choke Hail Mary's.... We could have been MAC Champions in 05, '10, '11, '12, and '14 if it wasnt for some of these crazy prevent defense miscues in the remaining Q4 seconds.

37 yard line with 17 seconds left. Still pathetic to this day.

Not sure you want to make that boast before you look it up. The boys in blue don't have to back down to anyone when it comes to that.

More than Toledo since 2001.. Is that better?

I could really care less about the 70s & 80s.

Some of us older folks who attended NIU in the 70's remember when Toledo "owned us". I especially hated seeing them beat us during the Joe Novak era because I have so much respect for coach Novak and the foundation that he poured for all of our current success.

I remember attending the NIU Toledo game in 71 when Chuck Ealey played QB for them. I actually have a ton of respect for Chuck Ealey. Toledo was the only D1 school that gave him a chance to play QB at a time when very few schools would allow an African American to play QB. He led Toledo to 35 consecutive wins yet he is not in the college football hall of fame. Despite his success in college Ealey was not drafted as a QB in the NFL though he had a successful career in the Canadian league and won a championship for his Canadian team.

For those of us with long memories, our recent success against the Rockets is sweeter than for you youngsters.

Programs like NIU need fans who stay with them for decades and have long memories. All highly successful programs have fans like these and the Huskies need more of them.

What is crazy to think about is that in 42 meetings vs Toledo since the early 60's, the current NIU winning streak over UT is the first time NIU's has won 2 in a row over Toledo.

Didn't Ray Smith run the wrong route on that play? He was supposed to be backing up and he went another direction?

Lol...unfair to think about past losses in the shouldda couldda wouldda but nearly posted the exact commentary...

the bomb to Hixon for Akron in 2005 was one of the most unreal plays/series I have ever seen... I think the memory of that play alone gives us newish/semi-new Huskie fans the greatest heartburn when the guys are in a close one...

Miami Oh as well... more because I think NIU was that much more TALENTED than MOh that year and that tipped pass on 4th down that kept the final drive for the RedHawks alive was unreal...

The 2005 plus the 2010-2014 records really tell the story..3-3 ..so many fun memories recently but i think we're a few years away from the win total (obviously) but also the FULL and TOTAL dominance of Marshall in the late 90s / early 2000s....

the 23rd will be a good start 04-cheers

I was sitting in the seat that was closest to that tipped pass at the Miami game. Absolutely heart breaking.
