I think it might be time for me to admit 1) I possibly overhyped the basketball prospects this year for NIU (Highsmith injury obviously a key to that) and 2) the MAC is not nearly as bad as once thought, and is in fact, darn good. Yesterday's mid major top 25 poll has a stunning 7 MAC teams in the top 38 And especially scary for NIU, 4 of these top 38 national teams are in the West division. Other item of note, is WMU slipped out of the top 25 and now EMU is challenging Toledo for best in the West.

22. Eastern Michigan
27. Western Michigan
30. Buffalo
32. Bowling Green
38. Central Michigan

Just win at home and get lucky on the road. Did MM find an offensive coordinator yet? I hope MM found his press breaker playbook. I have the feeling other teams have scouted us very well now and are ready to expose our weaknesses.

If EMU pulls this out, Ann Arbor will be on fire. Losing to NJIT and a perceived weak team in EMU (although as we know here a very good team), that would be wow.

This is where a lot of MAC teams fail, and we use to be this way in football too. The other team struggles and instead of playing with confidence and taking advantage you play down to their level and let them stick around and they end up winning.

I hope im wrong because i want EMU to win, but that same MU team wont be on the court in the second half. EMU had a chance to build a lead.

Murphy wont be at EMU long, that team plays as hard as anyone Ive seen. The intensity in watching an EMU game and watching an NIU game right now is night and day.

One of the grittiest defense efforts Ive seen in a long long time. The thing I like about this occurring vs the Big 10 if EMU does this against the MAC, everyone says "OMG THIS IS HORRIBLE BASKETBALL IN THE MAC", against Michigan it can be appreciated for what it is, high intensity, suffocating basketball.

Good defense can make everything look brutal. That was as dominating of a defensive effort as you will see.
