RE: Dick Torio Dies
I worked out at Torios Health club after getting out of the Air Force back in the 70's ...
Mr. Torio was a first class human being ... R.I.P.

Interesting that John R. Bloch left a comment below the article from his own newspaper. Just couldn't resist calling attention to himself is my take on his need to comment.

RE: Dick Torio Dies
Email I received from one of my fellow UT Army ROTC buddies (Gary Barber) who wrestled for UT, and then the Army. He's retired from the Army and works for the FAA in the Dallas/Ft Worth area:

Quote:Thanks so much for sharing this with me. I didn't know Mr. Torio had passed away. Yes, I knew him well and trained at his gym and wrestled some of the best in the world there....to include Greg Wojeichowski who is shown in the article's picture. Mr Torio was able to see me become an All-American too back in the 80s. I was wrestling in the nationals one time and just happened to see him out the corner of my eye in the stands and talked with him after the tournament....he was very proud.

You won't believe this - but, I was scheduled to leave for Ohio yesterday to attend a wrestling room dedication for my old HS coach in Nelsonville, OH on Wednesday followed by a trip to New Jersey to attend the retirement of my old All- Army, World and Olympic Team Coach on Friday. But, I cancelled last night due to my work schedule. I have been working National and International Ebola Contingency Plans/response and preparing for the FBS National Championships here in Dallas - and other disaster related issues in my region. So, if I'd left for Ohio as planned, I could have attended Mr Torio's funeral and saw many of my buddies again...to include you.
