RE: UAB Faculty Meeting
On a local program on Monday here on Sports Radio, The David Glenn Show, he (DG) had Tim Brando on and got him to speak about his tweet about the end of UAB football. Man, he put the BoT on blast...it was EPIC. Called out Bryant Jr. too...

Holy shitsnacks! I'm not surprised that this happened, but wow.
The Marshall faculty merely discussed one of these while I was still an undergrad, and the mood in the President's office shifted real quick. (re: President's salary getting raised while other things in the budget were being cut. IIRC.)

Between this resolution and including the language ''lack of institutional control,'' this could be enough to perk the ears at NCAA who may then launch an independent investigation into the matter. That could very well send some shuffling around within the UABOT as well as putting the pressure on those in Watts' office to come clean of any and all knowledge. Should someone lie during those proceedings, the feces will hit the oscillator, and lots of people would be on the chopping block.

If the faculty pressures them into a review of their report, they'll face lots of media and inside pressure to make sure it happens so eventually they'll have to at least give in partially to what the faculty says.

Not only this, but also the BOT completely ignoring the faculty sends up a lot red flags which could lead to academic governing bodies becoming involved.

There is no way this doesn't end in a massive lawsuit.

UAB Faculty Meeting
It may be too late to save football for 2015, but perhaps C-USA could treat UAB like a new program and let them rebuild back up to FBS scholarship levels.

Tim Brando just said it like it is. It's refreshing to hear someone with the gonads to go against the old south good boy mentality. Trouble is, I wonder if this interview got to that rusty, crusty old man it was intended for. Someone should send it to him and let it sink in and for him to seethe some more.

Sure! Haha. I've been saying it for years as a polite way of saying the alternative. 04-cheers

RE: UAB Faculty Meeting
I'm sorry that the "no-confidence" vote was delayed until January. That bit of pressure, which is maybe the only thing that will cause Watts to change his mind, is going to come too late, I fear. Just this morning in the Tampa Bay Times, they wrote about a local UAB recruit who is scrambling to find another offer. I'm sure that's the case with others, as well. I'm not sure about the coaches, but they have to be looking out for themselves and lining up other jobs too. It seems that there would be no one left to play the game by January.

I also saw where Tennessee has already re-schedule its UAB game with Bowling Green for next season.

So, the damage seems to be done for the foreseeable future. I don't see any possible salvation to 2015. But I absolutely agree with Afflicted. We should affirm, as a conference, that if UAB gets back to FBS level football at any time in the future, they are welcome home (although I'm still hoping we find a way to keep them for all other sports...may not be realistic, but I'm hoping.)

Only if the conference can be assured that this crap will not be repeated. The conference members need to have confidence in UAB's leadership that they will provide a commitment to division 1 status long term.

It wasn't delayed; those are the rules. And since the premise of the No Confidence motion is that Ray Watts broke/ignored/trampled the rules of conduct, both written and unwritten, the backers of the motion felt it imperative that the rules be followed to the letter. And I see their point.

Not all of the faculty like football or care about it one way or another, but all of them have to live with the university president. So their primary concern is to curb his repeated acts of evil, stupidity and arrogance.

Thanks again for the kind thoughts.

What is the issue the faculty have with the Honors College? What did he do?

UAB Faculty Meeting
AL.com (owner of the newspapers in Birmingham, Mobile, and Huntsville) is continuing to pound on Ray Watts daily. I'd be very surprised if Watts makes it to February 1 with his job.

Watts nearly torpedoed the Honors College in 2013.

In full disclosure, I am a graduate of the UA Honors Program (now Honors College) - I certainly wouldn't have considered Alabama without it. UAB's Honors College appears to be attracting similar caliber students (average ACT score of 30). UAB would be doing a huge disservice to the taxpayers of Alabama by dropping their program, as most honors graduates stay in-state, and often these are your alumni most likely to give back to the University.
