I like playing on a day jam-packed with other meaningful games-- on a Saturday to boot. Last year the Belk Bowl was played on the same day as the Pinstripe (Notre Dame/Rutgers) and the Russell Athletic Bowl (Loiusville/Miami). As a result all three bowls had very good ratings. A remember reading a media article that described the day as perfect football viewing because people sat at home and watched all three games.

K-State and Michigan played that same Saturday too. In the 10 PM late game from Arizona.

I cannot find the articles at this moment but I know that I've read several times that apart from the New Year's Day and BCS Bowls, on an annual-basis the best TV ratings for Bowl games are generally realized on that Saturday between Christmas and NYD. It's definitely a good spot. Will be nice publicity by UC (presuming it's not a blow-out like 2013 :-( )
