Walls can step in and play as a true frosh next year at Memphis, particularly since we lose Harris, Jakes, and Coleman.

Perhaps, but 3 of the 4 freshman got extended action this year and one that was highly touted missed the year with injury. The cupboard isn't bare, but we definitely need depth at the LB.

Pman, did Shareef White redshirt?

Old Dominion has two starting corners (both rising juniors) from UAB visiting Norfolk this weekend. They're hoping that Jake Ganus (LB and leading tackler for 2013 and 2014) also visits (he'll be a senior in the fall).

All three are in-state in Bama and one from nearby to us in Florence. If they could help us, I hope we're actively courting them as well.

Avery, White and Robinson all played this year and will be Sophs. It was Akins that redshirted due to injury. Dillon and McManis will be Jrs. and Pegues will be a Sr. I think we have one LB commit so far, Harges. Good base but we certainly could use some more depth and talent there.

Walls declined the offer. He's back on the board.

"(I just want to) look at some more schools to see if I would be a fit," he said. "I'd like an offer from all SEC schools. I don't really have one on my mind."

An SEC offer isn't coming. Memphis is in a good spot!

I don't think I would roast them to that degree. But I do think it is risky to alienate a good recruiting school. Then again, it seems the SEC brand inoculates the schools from ever having any long term scars like that. How many 4/5 star QBs wash out at Alabama over a five year period and nothing is ever even pointed out.

I looked up the player you mentioned (Dickens) and did not see that he signed anywhere. I am just guessing he is now at NW, NE, Coahoma, etc?

This stuff goes on everywhere in recruiting. Not saying it's fair or that I like it...but it happens everywhere, not just at OM. Keep in mind, Ole Miss offered a greyshirt...they didn't completely kick him to the curb, they just asked him to come a semester later.

Walls will land on his feet. It's a good thing for Memphis.

Dickens had a terrible concussion. Worst one I have personally seen. Weeks after the incident he still didn't even know who his mother was. Most believed he would not and should not play the game again.

Freeze worked with the school to get him a non-football scholarship that covered all of his education. He also had offers From Florida State, Memphis, and MS State. I think he didn't qualify. He went to NWCC. He is back playing again too.

Walls told people he had his offer pulled this week, but he's known for a while. The Memphis staff has as well.

There was some speculation but it all went down this past week from what I understand.

Heard that there is still a chance he could end up at Ole Miss depending on how the numbers shake out... Ole Miss just had one decommit today who is likely headed to TN along with his friend who Ole Miss was also in on.

Outside of Ole Miss getting back in, heard that Memphis and Mizzou may be getting involved and Miss St is evaluating again.

Looks like Fred had a pretty good All-Star game today with an INT and I believe a safety after missing the last month or so of the season with a undisclosed minor illness/injury.

His teammate TJ Jallow (Louisville commit) looked ok as well. Wonder if Memphis will take a run at him as well if they get involved with Fred in attempt to package them.

Heard Dickens was supposed to head to Ole Miss in Jan, but now they are putting him in a holding pattern as well. May be some interest in him as well if schools are satisfied with his medical report.

Patrick Macon 6'3 230 pd Lb (Millington Central) played really well in the Liberty Bowl all star game yesterday and still unsigned. He would be a nice addition to this years class.

Was looking for USM info and ran across that both these guys (Walls and Jallow) visited UTEP this past weekend. Maybe they want play together or go away to school? Seems like there would be closer CUSA schools interested where friends and family could watch them play.

Would he walk on? According to my FB friend's rant, UofL cut his "ship." His rant was aimed at MS kids enamored of P5 schools, getting dropped late in the game, and scrambling to find homes. Of course, they should all sign with USM in his view.

Walls is not going to end up at OM. Or State. He doesn't have any other major offers.

Memphis is just as good of an option as any...
