RE: George Mason series
Despite all of us only being able to recall one win over them this millennium, we still own the all-time series record. That's how badly Mason sucked in those early years of the CAA.

Well, you can tell this must be a pretty big deal.

Nothing gets FOATTY and The 'Ster quite as excited these days as getting to go to a GMCC game! 05-stirthepot

RE: George Mason series
Cool, good job. We've now got Richmond and GMU getting back on the schedule which is great. Would love to have GW on every year but I think that's more of a Mike Lonergan thing that's probably outside of JMU's control. Obviously VCU as well but right now not so worried about that as they'd probably run us off the court at the present time.

George Mason series
I think there is probably something to having things settle a little on both sides when a team leaves a conference. It hasn't been that long for the most recent defections. VCU left in 12-13, ODU and Mason in 13-14. Yeah it took JMU a while to get things back with Richmond and we've played them the last 3 years (will be 4 next year) and will start the Mason series again next year (after a 2 year hiatus). Brady said we tried with ODU but it hasn't worked yet. If you look at VCU's schedule since they left they have only played ODU and Virginia. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't want to play a home and home with JMU. It would be nice to play VCU (Brady's teams had some success vs. VCU) or Va Tech if and when the UVA series expires and as others have said get the George Washington series started again. Let's hope we have another potential state rival/former conference mate in William & Mary to play on the OOC schedule in the not too distant future.

RE: George Mason series
I looked at Temple's schedule tonight for kicks. Nine of their thirteen OOC games were against schools from DC to NY. Regional competition with a few A10 schools on the schedule. This type of scheduling gives fans what they want and cuts way down on travel costs. There are plenty of good teams in the mid atlantic. Stay close to home, play good competition, cut travel costs and keep fans engaged...sounds like good scheduling to me.

You and HMK are being heard according to DNR today. Maybe one of you got to Jackson Kent, "I honestly don't think we have a rival, and if we do I do not know who it is"

Sad, very sad, yet I'm sure he was being very honest. Back in my day I always thought it went in this order, GMCC, VCCC, ODCC, then maybe RU and W&M.

Curious, who would you name as a rival in basketball?

RE: George Mason series
I think until we put 3 successful seasons together we will not have a main rival. Add that to the ever changing conference landscape and who knows if we ever will have one soon. Sustained success and a trip or two to the NCAA's will get more of our fans on board and make us a more desirable opponent.

I hope we get our first road win Saturday. Go Dukes!

The only two that we currently have are William and Mary and Delaware. Not too much to get hyped about there.
