CJ Sapong has been called into the US camp for the game against Portugal. Many young players brought in and most of the recent stars left at home. Maybe a chance for him to make his mark and get more chances with the national team.

Hopefully - and I stress "hopefully" - some of these U17's and U20's who performed well in 2017 on big stages (qualifying and then FIFA World Cup) will be given a legit shot during this next 4+ year cycle. Though I (DCU fan) hated losing Bill Hamid to his Euro-wish-journey, I am glad to see him with the USMNT and hope he gets a legit shot over the coming year(s).

Sapong replaced in the 76th minute of a 1-1 tie with Portugal in the international friendly. Overall he played well but wasn’t able to score.

He had an early chance forcing a save and he was credited with an assist on McKennie's goal. Not bad for CJ! US should have won as the Portugal goal came on a misplay by our keeper...

I'm a soccer fan who didn't know he played in the CAA. Wikipedia said he made his national team debut on January 21, 2012; played again on January 25, 2012; and then had to wait until November 2017 for his next game (playing many club games in between). Sometimes national teams don't want a player anymore and give him another chance years later.
