Whatever happens, the MWC/AAC need to strongly consider a merger (which would result in some teams being dropped). These are the teams from each that I would use as a starting point, subject to poaching:

AAC
UCF;
Cinci;
UConn;
ECU;
Memphis;
Navy;
USF;
Temple

MWC
SDSU;
UNLV;
Fresno State;
Boise;
Colorado State;
Air Force;
New Mexico

And then try to pull BYU in to the west. The odds are that two of those teams will get plucked, so there would be a six game RR and three cross-overs.

A new conference would need to be formed in order to drop Tulsa & Tulame.

Yes... Please.

The AAC will never drop Houston and SMU. Their our two largest markets and honestly I think they have some great football coming in the future.

with that said, I dont see Boise St ever getting into a power five conference. They have a succesfull football team most years. Other then that, they offer nothing to a conference.

In time the Big 12 will move to a network format and Boise would be a drag instead of a draw at that point.

There is nothing wrong with the blue turf. College football is supposed to be fun, take the sticks out of your collective asses.

The same people who complain about our turf probably also whine about Oregon's unis, Mississippi State's cowbells, etc. Would you rather have boring sanitized corporate environments like the NFL?

Yes, they cannot afford to build many new facilities! 07-coffee3

We just spent $22 million on new facilities.

I've tried write Boise State off over and over, and people can probably find examples in older posts. I can't do it anymore. Especially if they hold their own in the Fiesta Bowl, which I think they will. I don't think Boise has a chance at full-membership, yet. I believe a football-only invite would be possible after the NCAA rejects the proposal of a 10-team conference staging a title game.

The American public overwhelmingly says yes seeing how much more popular NFL is.

Sorry but BSU doesn't cut it on the academic side even for the Big 12. Yes, they still play a role.
Sure they maybe talked about, but there isn't any really serious discussion for BSU.
I would like BSU to be considered but it's not happening.....and may not even happen for BYU.

Big XII academics??? seriously???

I've seen this in a few other threads....sorry, but thats a joke....

if Texas or Oklahoma or any other school were serious about academics, they'd be in one of the other conferences.....

Yet NFL attendance has been declining since 2007. The NFL's popularity is undeniable, but it seems more and more people would rather watch from home than go to a bland cookie-cutter stadium with all the atmosphere of a neutral site game and get gouged for tickets, parking and concessions.

It is watching it on TV.

One thing I did notice what I saw part of the MW CCG was that when there was a shot from the End Zone the field and players wil quite a bit clearer than the normal side line view.
So there seem to be something with the grain of the turf that is so uneven. Either way there is only so much I can take see BSU play at home...especially with the blue uni's.

Besides...the blue turf is so FCS!

RE: BOISESTATE AND BYU TO BIG12
Just wondering ... has there been any talk in Idaho's Regents or legislature, or between the institutions themselves, of a merger? E.g., BSU and Idaho, or all three (BSU/Idaho/Idaho State). The population of Idaho is very low and the land area large, so supporting three universities must be challenging. BSU, renamed to "University of Idaho-Boise" and becoming the main campus might be very attractive for a variety of purposes.
