On an unrelated note: UT's Butch Jones expected to get an extension in the range of $3.6M per. This is relevant just to again point out the significant difference in salaries between the Cartel-Five Conferences vs. the Regular Conferences.

Odom is gone once Fuente officially inks on his new contract. We can't afford to pay him what Auburn or Texas AM are offering, which is probably over $1M/year.

Yeah, it is going to be hard to keep both but I love for Odom to stay at least one more year.

If not, I'm sure Fuente keeps a list in his pocket.........

Barry Odom is a good guy, based on my conversations with him. I wish him the best. If he stays here, I will be overjoyed. If he gets a better job for big $$$, then I will feel good for him.

On a side note, what's the worry with Fuente? The Wazzou and Michigan jobs are the only ones open worth a crap. Not like he's getting either one of those.

I understand rewarding him for a job well done, but no need to back the truck up to keep him from leaving.

If and when Fuente departs for Alabama or wherever, Odom will have a nice shot at that the top spot whether he is here or at Auburn, TAMU, etc. Why would he forgoe the huge increase (which we can not under any circumstances match) for the in-between time. One does not leave 7 figures on the table. The offers he is getting aren't a million dollar offers, they are a million dollars MORE than he is getting paid right now. Wish him the best of luck, and hope his wheel turns our way again.
