Based on quotes from BC's AD and such, yes. They are the ones who came to the ACC pushing them to expand, not vice versa.

Didn't that happen after SEC picked up Arkansas (and S Carolina)?

Sure. That being said, we are talking about what caused the musical chairs to begin again in recent years, not the breakup of the SWC.

Oh I don't know about that. UCF has been in the same conference as UC for two years and we have two championships, UC only has one.

And if that mattered in the least they would have handed you an invitation when you beat Baylor last year.

05-nono Big 12 does not need two teams in a small state like West Virginia. Marshall to the B12 is a big pipe dream. 07-coffee3

Universities pay attention to academics as well as athletics. Memphis is not on par w/ the rest of the Big 12.

They're a nice fit geographically. They have good bball. They've had decent fball occasionally. Not the most compelling of arguments IMO.

Have to give Memphis credit. They have an elite BBall program and have turned football around. Gets the Big 12 into the state of Tennessee.

I think it's premature to say Memphis has turned its football around. I'd like to see them weather a coaching change before I'm ready to declare it Mission Accomplished. That being said, I still think they're as good a candidate for B12 expansion as most others.

I was just basing my thoughts on the fact they won the American (Co-Champ). Good accomplishment considering how bad they were there for a while.

The BigXII is dumb, but I don't see 'em doubling down on the issues of WVU being on an island. When they expand, it will be to the East and not West and Memphis and Cincinnati are the best OVERALL packages. Yes, there may be some that are better currently in football. Yes, there may be other schools that are in bigger media markets. However, the best two overall packages are Cincinnati and Memphis. Solid football, Willingness to invest, Solid markets, Solid new recruiting grounds, instant (major!) boost to basketball as well.

In my ideal world, I'd love to see Houston in the PAC-12.

I think where I would clarify this- I think if they only go to 12, it will be to the east. If they went 14, then could see both east and west.

If for some reason they do go beyond 14 then I could see CSU getting serious looks. I just cant imagine them wanting to go past 12 considering they wouldnt be going beyond 10 if it wasnt for the necessity of a championship game.

The only way that the B12 will expand is if they can't get their 10-team championship game approved.

If that were to occur, they will look towards BYU first and one of CInci or UConn first. SDSU, Memphis, UCF, USF and ECU would all also be in play... and likely before any other MWC teams.

Just my two cents. I'm pretty sure that ECU is staying in the AAC.

Houston mentioned by Denver post.

Per the Denver Post:

Per the Cincinnati inquirer:

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/c.../20054963/

If I had to rank that group in terms of chances I would say:
1. Cincinnati
2. BYU

Small gap

3. Colorado St
4. Memphis

gap

5. UCF
6. Boise St

gap

7. Houston

Big Gap

8. Marshall

Hell...Marshall is screwed worse than ECU when it comes to expansion talk.

I agree. I would say Cincinnati would have to be #1 on the list. I think they deserve it. Very well rounded school.

Cincinnati checks a lot of boxes:
Good Football
Good Basketball
New Market
New Recruiting Area
Bridge to West Virginia
Add to that a $1B endowment and improving facilities.

Contiguous State with other Big 12 schools
Land Grant University
Large Endowment
31,000 students
building new $200 mil stadium

Good school to have on the radar I think.

WVU would never allow Marshall in the same conference. That would mean they would have to play in Huntington every other year.

Trust me...I'm not that naive to believe they would support us for inclusion.
