I can't speak to how accurate their assumptions and inputs are but they certainly address a lot of the Tom foolery going on in the Carr report

funny accounting in carr report article

Outstanding rebuttal. I would be surprised if this article doesn't get a lot of traction today. It alone won't sway Watts but regardless it's another arrow in the quiver.

This is what the real numbers people have been saying all along, but it's presented in a wonderfully straightforward, logical manner. Very, very difficult to refute.

honest question - is the difference in the $54k vs $35k per player scholarship cost factoring in the "full cost" expense that is moving into commonality (all meals & stipends, expanded academic support ect)? could that be where the discrepancy is?

a UAB education only costs about $25k for two full time semesters a year. Unless they are going to start paying them a salary of $30k, that number is fuzzy.

If you have faith in humanity, it's the former.

If you're familiar with Alabama politics, it's the latter.

There is also the strong possibility that both are true...stupid liars are unfortunately all too common.

Football was losing $1,500,000 to $2,500,000 every year. UAB will lose C-USA's $2,600,000 annual dispersion when they are kicked out. I would laugh if it wasn't so horrible.

This article further illustrates to me why UAB football foundation should commission a study of our own. I think it is increasingly being recognized that Carrs numbers are cooked.
