One name I am hearing that I like is Joker phillips. Didnt make it as a head coach but was a good coordinator and he can recruit like a mad man.

It's easy to recruit when you violate recruiting rules.

Go ahead, hire a discredited former UF assistant who was forced out.

Joker was at Kentucky for 10 straight seasons...including the last 3 as Head Coach...yet this "mad man in recruiting" went just 4-20 in conf games as head coach.

Did he recruit a few good players the last 2 seasons at UF? Sure...but that's UF.

Any of us could be a "good or even great recruiter" at a program like UF.

Really? A UCF fan is going to say this? Really?.... glasses houses and such.

I am not going to go off here but REALLY think about what you just posted. Just remember UCF wont be off sanctions till 2017.

Yep, he wasnt a great head coach. Much like say, lane kiffin who didnt do much as a head coach but is a damn good coordinator. Joker is known to be a good offensive coordinator but was in over his head as a HC.

He was credited with bringing in some good talent. Of all the names being mentioned so far, his name stands out a bit. I have my own list but most would cost about $200K more then what we paid the last guy.

I am just hoping USF opens the purse strings a bit. We paid the HC low, so I hope we pay the assistants a bit higher.

Actually I'm pretty sure all of our sanctions have passed after this year and now we are just on probation until 2017. I could be wrong but I believe we have fulfilled all our of our sanctions and are just under probation now. So as long as we don't do something stupid (that didn't even benefit us) again we should be good.

I think your right that most are over but I think your Bball coach is still under a show cause and yes, the probation is until 2017.

I wont debate anything beyond that since it is moot and doesnt apply to the thread... just found it ironic that a UCF fan would lecture a USF fan, since we have never been found in major violation of recruiting rules or put on probation. I kind of made me say "he didnt just say that".

Joker almost got UF in NCAA trouble.

I don't know why USF fans are so obsessed with UCF's NCAA sanctions and say how it helped our Football team. Not one Player on the team the last 4 years was a result of those sanctions. The one player in question never wore a UCF uniform and is now a WR at Iowa State. If you dig enough you can catch every school doing something wrong, hell Taggart a few weeks ago had a recruit tweet about his visit during a supposed dead period and is a secondary violation but you don't see UCF fans crying about it online. who cares

Again, not looking to fight but thats the standard UCF line. NO TEAM, ever gets fully caught. UCF was actively attempting to cheat and just so happened to have one of their paths caught. I dont think anybody believes that this was the only person that UCF was using to cheat.

and again, I WASNT the one that brought up cheating. It was a UCF fan and they decided to attempt to lecture me about it, which I found ironic. There is a huge difference between a secondary violation (which kids can visit if they choose. Coaches cant arrange it) and full fledged lack of institutional control.

I don't think the DC should have been fired. USF has a good year on defense. The OC was awful. I hope Taggert survives...he is one of the good guys.

At least you guys are being proactive at a critical time.

Again name one player the last 4 years on the Football team that UCF cheated to get?

if UCF cheated we wouldn't be turning 2 stars into NFL draft picks like Perriman in most of our recruiting classes..USF fans are like conspiracy nuts with this

The irony of USF fans using this knowing all the crap that went on during the Leavitt years. You know why Genshaft gave him a 3 million dollar keep your mouth shut settlement?

Listen moron, please name ONE, JUST ONE, UCF football player who you can prove was picked up via recruiting violations.

JUST ONE.

If you can't do it, then STFU and stop using this idiotic line as some sort of "ratioanle" for why USF is an insigificant pile of feces as a program and UCF is clearly not.

For one, I DID NOT bring up the cheating. It was YOUR fan that did and I called him out for casting stones in a glass house.

You want a name that I think you cheated to get ... Godfrey, Jose Jose and Reese. There was some real weirdness that happened around that one and rumors came out immediately.

and again, I didnt bring up the cheating. You can be pissed all you want but the simple fact is it was your fanbase that attempted to call out USF for looking at Joker as an OC.

I can tell you we are/were pissed at those who cheated. Personally, I don't care much about bball but those who do tell me Donnie wasn't worth the trouble. We all hate the former AD for what he did. Picture if you will the unpopular kid who screws up and now the whole class is being punished for it that's probably the best comparison I manage.
