Cinci, UCF, and Memphis would probably be the 3 most likely candidates then BYU as an independent. This ACC poach talk is crazy, their members are happy there
You are right that the ACC teams wont go to the Big 12, but I wouldnt rule out a move to the Big 10 once they get a new 1st tier contract. the Big 10 will make over $10 million a year more then the ACC teams... its very possible.
As far as USF fans not wanting realignment, I dont think its that. Its more so that we have been through all of this before. There is one huge underlining assumption that most are forgetting. The Big 12 really doesnt want to expand.
I think its way more likely that they attempt to get a waiver for a championship game first. If that doesnt work, then I expect them to lead the charge to expand the playoff to 8. Yes the current contract runs for the next 12 years but it can be changed by a vote.
If there were an 8 team playoff, then the Big 12 would be getting 2 teams in and an extra $12 million, whereas adding two teams would more then likely dilute there income.
Lastly, the Big 10 will get a record contract. It will be obnoxiously profane. If after it is signed, I think you could see the Big 12 make there move then. They would have the opportunity to show that the market has increased, that they are underpaid and then they can expand with whomever they want.
If within that time the Longwhore Network continues to struggle, you could see ESPN make a move to change it to a Big 12 network. At that point, UCF and USF become much more viable...and adding more then just 2 teams also become more profitable.
I just dont see a quick move right now. The big 12 has other cards to play first. If they dont wash out, then Id expect them to make a move in 2016, so were about 2 years away.
