Please Get Rid of the Committes
It's time to get rid of any and all committees. Have a 10 team playoff with the two highest ranked teams getting a two round bye. Every FBS conference champion is in the playoff. If a team isn't good enough win their conference championship and want to get in the playoff let them join a conference they can win. This selection committee must have been trained by Vince McMahan & "WWE".

Wait, so a Akron would deserve to get in over a Auburn or Florida?

All things being fair, yes. In the NFL, each division champion gets a playoff home game, if not bye. Even if they aren't equal (e.g. NFC South vs. the AFC North) they still get the same treatment.

Even if some FBS programs carry more weight than others, they still cohabitate the same level of the same governing body.

So while logically no, in the name of fairness, yes.

If Florida & Auburn can't win their conference and they want to get into the playoff let them move to a conference they can win.

I'm for getting rid of the committee but not all conference champions are created equally.

You can say that about the NFL, NBA, MLB, college basketball & college baseball. Heck you even say that about the WWE.

Round One 2 byes, 8 teams play (4 games), and 4 teams are eliminated, meaning the surviving 4 teams advance and are joined by the 2 bye teams. That sends 6 teams into round 2. Unless, you want to give double byes, your system is mathematically flawed.

5 P5 conference champs and 3 at large games is MUCH better.

If all conferences get an equal share into the playoffs, then you'll see major conferences splitting. 0 way would an 11-1 LSU get passed up over an 8-4 Sun Belt Champ just because they finished #2 in the SEC.

This isn't the NFL where there's a salary cap and almost all teams are on equal footing, in terms of talent and the worst teams gets the first choice of draft picks.

I'm all for the 10 conference champs getting in, but there need to be at-large bids, also. This is one reason 16 is perfect for a playoff.
