Did Birmingham's largest business group reverse course on UAB's divisive decision to end football?

It should be noted that Watts is a member of the executive committee, according to the BBA's website.

Another member of the committee is John D. Johns, CEO of Protective Life Corp., a former chairman of the BBA, who is also a member of the Alabama Board of Trustees.

It pisses me off when they advertise on the big screen at basketball games.

It may be necessary to call all Advertisers and let them know that by supporting the current incarnation of UAB athletics they are actually hurting the school. We should first try and get them to cancel their ad buys and if that doesn't work initiate a boycott. We need a list from the ads at the arena, to radio, to TV, to the web site. If Ray Watts wants to fight then why do we not remove the gloves and fight?

Do you work for the BOT? Because that is exactly what they want. Every idea you post on this board is a horrible that brings the end of UAB athletics closer to the end.

UAB is not the enemy. Ray Watts is.

UAB is not the enemy. Ray Watts is.

UAB is now under the dictatorship of Ray Watts. Ray Watts has NEVER sat down for any type of negotiation. When a party refuses to negotiate then you must do something to get them to the table. Ray Watts by his own admission cares about money and if we can cut off enough money then he will be forced to sit down and negotiate or better yet he will be forced out by the evil Board that gave him his power in the first place.

Cutting off Athletic funding is only the beginning of the hurt that is now decending on UAB. Every member of the legislative delegation that I have spoken with have stated that the actions of Ray Watts to damage the city of Birmingham and Jefferson County will cost UAB state funding in the next state education budget. Ray Watts started something that he is unlikely to win and we can only hope that the %#*$ storm that he started takes out the evil board of Trustees with him.
