I couldn't care less what they think. I'm really happy our team was able to get this matchup. Yea, not against a P5 team, but hella more exciting than going against Arkansas State

The CUSA champ picks what CUSA bowl they want to go to...So Marshall fans need to complain to their AD.

Also their only other option was to play a 6-6 B1G team in Dallas. They recruit FL much more than TX. Its a very smart game for them for the same reasons as us.

Then the prudent thing to do would be to not schedule 3 MAC teams, none of which were in the conference's top-5.

It's a battle of two teams that were hoping to get the access bid. There's going to be disappointment on both sides.

But since both couldn't get the access bid, this is about as good as it gets.

Marshall fans mad cause they know it'll be a harder game against us then playing the Illness or Rutgers... they don't want to get embarrassed in a bowl game cause I don't see them as a threat at all honestly. WKU beat them, and that just shows that they aren't as good as they think they are. Didn't play a single team that was worthy. Just know this, if we get up on them early, it'll be NIU MACC game all over again, maybe even worse (cause i think BGSU could beat Marshall, and in saying that, that means Ball St., WMU, and Toledo can as well)

Honestly though... does anyone think it might have been a more sellout game if it was NIU vs the Illness down in Texas? i mean we recruit florida a lot better than texas, but just for the simple fact that we'd be able to beat NU and UofI in the same season would be something very memorable.

Huh? It's NIU. It's not Miami-OH, Akron, or Ohio -- which they Chose to play this year. :)

They had the option to play a 6-6 B1G team this year, but chose NIU. Probably because NIU is more "dangerous" of a team I think -- will get more national attention than playing Rutgers, and better recruiting area in FL vs Dallas.

Was not a possibility. Thats a CUSA bowl with Illinois selected as the opponent.

I coul only imagine NIU. In 10 years winning the AAU or the likes, missing out on a major bowl and playing the new MAC powerhouse EMU.

People are making too much of this Marshall fans being unhappy thing. I can sympathize with their reaction. They played three MAC east teams this year...that is horrific. I'm sure any of their educated fans know that this will be a good competitive game. Why the hell does it matter what their fans think anyway? This reminds me of people feeling disrespected by polls that don't matter.

What was the alternate opponent that they would have played if it was not us?

Marshall played an EXTREMELY easy schedule, and then lost to WKU after giving up 67 points. If they went undefeated, then I'd be more understanding for them being upset, but that didn't happen. They had the opportunity to play a tougher schedule, but chose to schedule 3 MAC east teams for their OOC schedule.
