Yeah, SB Nation now has it in BOLD as official. And WMU vs Air Force on the blue grass in Idaho. I guess the MW didn't want to play BGSU who isn't that good.

Yawn. How does anyone get excited over two unranked teams playing in a meaningless game? It is access bowl or bust for the Huskies

This is up there with some of MD dumb posts. Whatever team wins this game has a good chance to be ranked at the end of the season.

+1. Let the whiners from Marshall complaining about the game and matchup choke on it. Their tears will be sweet.

And this is huge for perception. There was a lot of Marshall hype that they were undefeated but werent getting respect. Well lets pound their face in and make some noise of our own.

It's simply perception on what makes a successful season. Using the NFL as an example - what is your goal going into the season? Do you want to win the Super Bowl or are you tickled to just make the playoffs?

NIU can't be national champs due to the current configuration of the NCAA postseason - so the NIU Super Bowl is making and winning an access bowl.

As a football fan, or a sports fan, that is the goal I have for my team. To be the ultimate winner. The Huskies had a very good season, but they didn't reach the apex of what they could have achieved.

Wishing for my alma mater to be sitting where Boise State is doesn't make me a "dumb" poster. For those who are giddy over a non noteworthy bowl to play against another team that failed to reach their goals - by all means, more power to you. I simply hoped for more and remain disappointed.

Going into today, you should have known that NIU would not be making it to the Access Bowl. This was the next best thing for us. I guess we could have play Air Force or Ark St, but I much prefer this matchup.

Gee, kind of a Debbie Downer! :) You're acting like NIU was sent to the Potato bowl to play a 6-6 team.

This is a noteworthy bowl. How good a bowl is depends on the competition. Two Power G5s -- people outside the MAC & CUSA are going to want to watch. It's a better game than playing some random 7-5 B1G or ACC team.

All teams not playing in a BCS Bowl are "failed teams" -- even a couple who ARE playing in BCS Bowls (TCU, Baylor) are "failed teams" in your eyes and their bowls are a disappointment too because one hoped/wished for more.

This bowl is actually a success for NIU. A great matchup both teams are lucky to set up (and not playing random 7-5 team).

Agreed. I understand the bar being the Access Bowl, but to be honest, I don't think many held out hope for that at the start of this season. Overall, the 2014 Huskies have exceeded expectations and are now reaping the reward for their hard work and growth over the course of the season.

A match-up between (assuming) the #2 and #3 G5 teams is good enough for me.

Precisely! How can a TCU or Baylor fan consider the season a success when they are playing in a consolation bowl? They certainly had more excitement than say, a University of Texas fan, but they are on the outside looking in at the end of the day.

The Huskies are also lurking outside the window peering in at a team that achieved what they could not. Boise State deserves the access bowl, but why should Huskie fans not be disappointed NIU failed to snare it from them.[/php]
