Not so fast.

All Big XII needs is a championship game. Not more members. And that's on the table.

They'll look at this first because they've been adamant that there is no school that adds value to their membership to overcome the smaller pieces of the pie that two more members would necessitate.

Nah, this was in March. What the ACC wants is 14 teams with no divisions. After almost having an undefeated FSU screwed over, no reason to support Big 12 selfish agenda.

Yep, Big 12 will get no support on this issue, as the Big 12 were the ones who almost screwed the ACC over and the ACC was their only friend. 04-cheers

Most recent update was May (at least that I can find), when Bowlsby publicly affirmed support... so, it's still on the table.

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/...back.html/

Again, we all know the Big XII's attitude... they haven't exactly been shy about the topic, and it's been almost universal whether you talk about what the commish has said or what the ADs or presidents have said.

I recognize how hungry people on this particular board might be to see them expand. But the fact remains, the path to get to a championship game is both easier (mere NCAA vote) and more economical (no new members to share with) this way.

Without divisions, why even play a CCG? If a team goes 9-0 in conference any every other team has a loss in conference, why play a CCG? That doesn't make sense.

People want CCG games; they make money. The move towards everybody having one is almost complete.

They just had Bowlsby on the ESPN show and he mentioned that they are still pursuing a waiver to have a CCG with 10 teams. Big12 will be slow rolling any expansion talk, but I think they'll be talking about it behind closed doors, and maybe scouting some G5 schools.

CCG guarantees one extra game between two really good teams = a boost to SoS.

"which have expanded to the requisite minimum of 12 teams"

This.

Yup, the Big 12 lost their only ally in this effort. They wouldn't have gotten it passed with just the ACC either but now they are truly on an island all alone when it comes to passing that legislation through.

Yall really think the ACC wants teams in Florida that will compete for recruits with their teams?

and the Big 10 and SEC cant be excited about expanding into their territory.

Please share with us the link that indicates the ACC... incidentally, it was their idea in the first place, btw... has reconsidered. I missed that.

Too lazy at the moment to google it, but it was reported at the time that there did not seem to be any resistance to the proposal from others.

Back this summer, it was considered a shoe-in vote. Now I have my doubts, Why allow Big XII to have one without going to 12 when it impacts playoff? Why let ACC cook up a plan to arbitrarily place two top contenders in a championship to bolster their playoff resume.

Think it is a dead idea.

Who knows what the actual prospects are, but it's clearly not "dead" if Bowlsby just told us today that it's what he intends to pursue.

No way the other conferences that went to 12 will accept to get a CCG. They will pass the ACC proposal but not the B12 ten team request. B12 will at least to have to go to 12.

Bowlsby also claimed to have one true champion and then presented two. 07-coffee3
