If the other 11 had you in last place then maybe not, though I would prefer to see all 1st place teams earn the same points. But that is just me.
We don't sponsor all the sports, but having more of mediocrity shouldn't beat out overall dominance. I'm sure many will disagree but 7sbc titles should get you some kind of an award...and it's 6 of the 8 most popular sports.
I do think there should be some recognition for the schools that sponsor the most sports, otherwise just take an average, and I don't think one should reward a school doing the bare mininum and a few schools in the SB are doing just enough to stay DI it seems.
I would like to see all sports have equal weight, and I like the idea of giving a bit for winning a conference tourney to be honest as that is the team that goes on to rep the SB in NCAA. Maybe have a geometric progression of points where each place up the standings doubles the points. That would put a premium on winning the sport. Lots of ways to do this and it seems every conference does something different.
Bubas is about SB team vs SB team but I would also not mind seeing some points given to teams that advance to certain levels in NCAA tourneys. Reward a school if they advance the entire SB, which is what happens when schools push higher into NCAA tourneys.
I also think it would be nice if the SB gave out a small (so as not to push bad behavior) but big enough to matter a bit monetary award. Maybe the cost of tuition and fees for one student. That is not pocket change nor is it so much as to turn any school, I would hope, into a P5-type school that will do anything for the almighty $.
I don't know of any major corruption, ethical, or selling out for $ by SB schools, and I am proud of that as a conference.
